Flan is a network simulator written in Java. It is meant to be easily expandable by adding new protocols, which are also written in Java. It includes a graphical network construction interface, a RIPv2 (with subnets, that is) protocol, IP packets handling, etc. Flan is based on a continuous time-discrete event simulation engine (with real-time sync).
This program was written to help test the Open Projects dancer-ircd. It simulates client activity by selecting random servers to connect to and random actions out of a list. It can handle hundreds of simultaneous connections, and can replay a log file of what it has previously done in order to help isolate the actions which cause the daemon to have problems, using methods such as binary chops. Please note that although at this point code is only written to test ircds, it is hoped that this will be extended in the future to other types of daemons.
Chainsaw is a GUI log viewer and filter for the Log4J package. It listens for LoggingEvent objects sent using the SocketAppender and displays them in a table. The events can be filtered based on Priority, Thread name, Category name, or Message. It can also load events logged to a file.
X Window Properties Viewer is a simple Motif application that lets you view/edit the X properties that are associated with each X window. A tree viewer lets to see part or all of the windows tree on your X server. After selecting a window you can view all of the resources at once or select individual ones for viewing/editing. Only editing strings is currently supported.
IDebug is an advanced debugging framework for Java. It provides the standard core debugging and specification constructs such as assertions, debug levels and categories, stack traces, and specialized exceptions. Debugging functionality can be fine-tuned to a per-thread and/or a per-class basis, debugging contexts can be stored and recovered from persistent store, and several aspects of the debugging run-time are configurable at the meta-level.
