AbulÉdu is a Ubuntu-based distribution for primary schools. It is currently in French but most of the tools can be translated. An AbulÉdu server can handle Mac, Windows (samba), GNU/Linux and X terminal (with LTSP) clients. The server acts as a central gateway for Web, mail, and printing, and facilitates the management of classes, pupils, and teachers. Everybody can publish Web pages on an intranet using Apache and all administration tasks are performed using a browser. The result is that a teacher who is not a computer specialist can install and manage a school network.

TMon System is a room temperature monitoring system, that uses a digital multimeter (Mastech MAS-345) connected to a serial port with an RS232C cable. Temperature readings are taken at set intervals, and should the temperature reach a certain threshold, an alert is sent via email or SMS. All readings are either logged to a file, or via 'syslog'.

SMSTerm is an application that uses the ICQ2000 protocol to present you a shell on your mobile phone which allows you to interact with your computer from any mobile on a GSM network. It runs a shell on a pty, and allows you to directly send commands to the shell through SMS. Minimal authentication is done over SMS before spawning a shell and offering it to the user on the mobile phone. It is very useful for remote administration tasks, or checking out the status of the network, or just to run some small chores on your system while you are away. It uses Expect.pm in the background. SMSTerm also includes a script to send SMS through the ICQ network from the command line to any GSM mobile, and also includes a PHP script to set up a Web->SMS gateway.

LibVNCServer is a library that makes it easy to make a VNC server. All you do is provide a frame buffer and some I/O functions, and call a function each time the frame buffer changes. It supports all encodings known, including tight, zlib, ZRLE, and cursor encodings. It also includes the HTTP server from Xvnc, so you can start a java viewer by surfing to http://my.vnc.server:5801 or similar. It includes a beta version of LibVNCClient, which makes it easy to make a VNC client. Also included is LinuxVNC, which is to the Linux console as WinVNC is to the Windows desktop.

The IBM 3270 Terminal Applications suite consists of seven applications. x3270 is an IBM 3278/3279 Terminal Emulator for the X Window System. c3270 is a curses-based 3278/3279 emulator. wc3270 is the Windows console version of c3270. s3270 is a script-based screen-scraping application for IBM hosts. tcl3270 is a Tcl- or Extended Tcl-based IBM host screen-scraping language. pr3287 is an IBM 3287 printer emulator, which can be invoked from x3270 or c3270, or can run standalone as a daemon. wpr3287 is the Windows version of pr3287. x3270, c3270, wc3270, s3270 and tcl3270 can emulate a color (3279) or monochrome (3278) terminal. They implement the TN3270E protocol, support IND$FILE file transfer, printing via 3287 emulation, and multiple host character sets (including non-Latin sets and DBCS Chinese and Japanese).
