terminal_colors is a tool to display a terminal color chart for 8, 16, 88, and 256 color terminals. It provides all the functionality of the various similar scripts found around the Web with some additional bells and whistles. It automatically detects 8, 16, 88, and 256 color capabilities (via ncurses) and displays the appropriate color charts. It can display the colors as blocks or (2D) cubes, optionally with color values overlaid in int or hex values. It can show the full rgb text string as well. It can also show the display with a vertical (default) or horizontal orientation. It has the option of additional padding and supports -h --help as well. It also works as a utility for converting between 256 and 88 color values.
5x9 and 5x10 are two X11 fonts intended for use with xterm or other programs requiring readable small fonts. At only 5 pixels wide, they are particularly well suited to small laptop screens, allowing two 80 column windows side by side on an 800x600 screen (albeit with no room for window frames), or three windows across with room to spare on a 1280x1024 screen. The fonts implement VT100 line-drawing characters. Bolding is not directly supported; xterm does adequate bolding by duplicating pixels.
Bashrun provides a powerful application launcher by running a specialized bash session in a small terminal window, conveniently providing bash features like tab completion and history. Additional features include user-configurable rules for automatically launching certain commands in a new terminal window, looking up manual and info pages, performing dict and Google queries, defining bookmarks for Web pages, or piping command output to the clipboard. Users can add more functionality by defining arbitrary rules for rewriting command lines based on regular expression matches and file test operators. This makes new features like file associations or Web shortcuts trivial to implement.
Netzen Xt is a small Linux distribution to implement an X Terminal. It is very simple and fast booting, with just a minimal set of software. The distribution provides an X server, dropbear SSH daemon, and the net SNMP agent, based on libc and busybox. It runs without a hard disk; just a compact flash storage device is needed.
qcon turns any terminal emulator for X into a Quake-style console. It is similar to tilda, kuake, and similar programs, but is't a terminal emulator by itself. Instead, qcon uses your favorite one, controlling its window position and state. It should work with most popular window managers and desktop enviroments.
AKFAvatar is a fancy graphical user interface for text oriented applications where an avatar appears on the screen and provides information in a balloon. It also supports recorded audio files. Applications for AKFAvatar can be written in Lua, and there are interfaces for C, Objective C, C++, Free Pascal, and GNU Pascal. A number of ready-to-use applications and modules are provided, including a text viewer and a module that makes question-answer exercises. For POSIX-compatible operating systems there is a man page viewer and a terminal emulator, which makes it possible to run many existing terminal-based programs in this fancy environment.
ansistego provides terminal-level steganography for scripts and other ASCII files (ie, protection against 'cat'). It intersperses a text/script with commented ANSI codes that cause most terminals to clear sensitive lines as soon as they are written. Only a specified front text appears. The front text is embedded in the script using ANSI-cloaked comments, so that the text appears unaltered when the script is viewed with cat, but the script can be run without any decoding stage.
evilvte is a terminal emulator. It supports almost everything VTE provides. It also supports tabs, automatic hiding of the tab bar, and the ability to switch encoding at runtime. Configuration is done by editing the source code and recompiling it. The size of a standard stripped binary of evilvte is less than 9 kilobytes.
A ksh, bash, gitbash, and Git shell plugin providing a highly visible 'info bar' with current git attributes.
