Bind DLZ on Rails is a Web-based user interface for managing BIND with the bind-dlz extensions on a MySQL 5.0 backend. BIND is a DNS server, and the bind-dlz extensions enhance BIND with support for database backeneds. This simplifies the management of thousands of zones and provides added redundancy (by way of database replication).
BindConfig is a tool to reduce the error prone work of maintaining BIND's zone files. More precisely, BindConfig is the name of a Python module that can read BIND's zone files and named.conf files, and can modify and save BIND's zone files in a concise format. It is distributed with an interactive shell that can be used to easily modify records in a zone file.
Dixie DNS & DHCP Config Tool is a Web interface written in PHP for configuring and administering ISC bind and dhcp. It maintains a database with general DNS and DHCP information, and information about subnets and hosts. It produces config files, or sends dynamic DNS updates if DDNS is used on the server. It has simple DNS and DHCP live browsers, and can produce subzone files for MS Active Directory.
Hawk is a DNS housekeeping utility that compares what's in DNS to what's really on your network, allowing you to (re)assign IPs with confidence. It monitors the hosts on your network via ping. It can identify unauthorized address usage, or show you which addresses in DNS haven't been used in a while and can be reclaimed.
JH2N (Java host to named conversion program) converts a hosts file to a full BIND 8 or 9 configuration. JH2N was inspired by the h2n.pl program included in the O'Reilly "DNS and BIND" book. Various options are available to enhance its operation by incuding external files. Using the simple host file syntax, very large and complex zones can be maintained.
OpenDD is a DynDNS client, written in C, and especially designed for small gateway machines, like a Soekris box. Its main feature is that it does not require any Perl or Python interpreter. It supports HTTPS, can send a mail report, and can run as daemon. It is also very easy to deploy.
