NeedSecure is program that makes it possible for system administrators and Web masters to protect member areas with passwords. It supports allowing and denying access to any protected directory for all members or for every member individually, recursive password protection, three levels of administration, extended member profiles with additional fields, limited and unlimited member accounts, language files and email templates that can be edited from an admin panel, optional activation codes, UTF-8 encoding support, statistics, and more.
MFilter is a replacement for maildrop/procmail and fetchmail/getmail. It is an email retriever that supports Maildir or command delivery and processing. Its secondary goal is to facilitate the life of the network administrator by centralizing the downloading, filtering, and classification of mail in a simple and flexible way. Some of its features include XML file based configuration and logging of each action taken.
rsyncbackup is a handy tool for scheduled backups using rsync. rsyncbackup lets you easily setup multiple source folders and destinations, both locally, on your iPod or external firewire disk, or at a remote destination using ssh. rsyncbackup has no GUI, but is based on editing configuration files. The script is meant to be run in a crontab, so user interaction is not neccesary. Basic terminal skills are required to use the program.
fs-check checks filesystem sizes to see if they are getting too full. It uses a configuration file that specifies the filesystems to check, email contacts, trigger thresholds (percentage or amount used/unused), and a report program to run. It includes fs-report, which shows things like the largest files, the newest files, the intersection of these and core files. It can be run from cron or as a daemon.
Virus Update Server (vsuserver) helps you maintain an updated mirror of the antivirus updates from the McAfee/Network Associates servers without having to download the entire list of updates every time a new antivirus update is available. It mirrors all the files needed for serveral OSes, and it also includes a FAQ on how to configure clients to update for their version of the product.
@1 Helpdesk XP Perl is a very powerful Web-based helpdesk system. It supports file attachments, hidden remarks, priority marking, etc. Unlike other similar products, this script does not use the conventional "assign/completed" method to close past tickets. Instead, it uses an intelligent method to sort/rank inquiry tickets. You can even tell whether your replies have been read by the visitors.
