Appomattox is a project to build a set of cross-platform mapping objects for the .NET framework. It is also a desktop GIS application. It currently supports the following data sources: shapefiles, raster data (JPEG, GIF, TIFF, bitmap, and PNG), and PostGIS. The goal of Appomattox is to provide an elegant and intuitive user interface for mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) without sacrificing power and functionality.
Biogenesis simulates in a visual fashion the processes involved in the evolution of unicellular organisms in nature. It tries to be a didactic approximation to the ideas of mutation or evolution, and can be enjoyed also as an entertainment. It's intended to serve as a support to show students some basic biological facts. The idea of Biogenesis is taken from Primordial Life, but it's an independent project.
Bist stands for "bidimensional structures" and is a chemical drawing tool. It is focused on organic chemistry, but it may be useful for chemists or teachers as well. Bist support many of the formalisms used to describe molecular structures like single bond, double bond, stereospecific bond, charges, resonance arrows, lone pairs, and so on. It can export both PostScript and PNG formats.
The Chemical Structures project aims to provide a complete set of 3D molecular structures in CML format. As CML format permits structural data and many properties to be included, each file also contains additional information, like molecular weight, boiling point, melting point, or InChI code. Data can be explored with a CML-aware software, like Jmol, or by using a Web browser.
ChronoJump is software and hardware to track jump, run, and reaction time and pulse. It uses a contact platform suitable for two events (in-platform, out-platform), and also a chronometer printed circuit designed ad-hoc in order to obtain precise and trustworthy measurements. Chronojump consists of free software and open hardware. It features a simulator that can be used if you don't have the hardware.
EtherApe is a GNOME/pcap-based etherman, interman, and "tcpman" clone. It displays network activity graphically. Active hosts are shown as circles of varying size, and traffic among them is shown as lines of varying width. It supports Ethernet, FDDI, Token Ring, ISDN, PPP, WLAN, and SLIP transports. It knows about VLANs, IP, IPv6, TCP, UDP, FTP, and a number of other protocols. Additional statistics windows will let you concentrate on protocols or nodes.
