DarkIce is a live audio streamer. It records audio from an audio interface (e.g. a sound card), encodes it, and sends it to a streaming server. DarkIce can record from OSS audio devices, ALSA audio devices, Solaris audio interfaces, and Jack sources. DarkIce can encode into MP3, MP2, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC formats, and can send the encoded stream to ShoutCast, IceCast 1.3.x and 2.x, and the Darwin Streaming Server.
Mp3blaster is an interactive text-based program that plays several audio file types (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, wav, and sid). It is one of the few audio players for the text console that allows full interactive control during playback. One of its key features is the ability to compose a very flexible playlist (while playing!). It plays most MP3 formats and has full mixer support built in.
MP3c is a curses-based audio CD-to-MP3/OGG converter with CDDB support. It can be used in an interactive menu environment or a batch mode which lets you encode automatically. MP3c tries to find the most useful information in a CDDB entry, and even recognizes sampler CDs correctly. It is very configurable and can be used with every available encoder, ripper, and tag editor. It is available in different languages (currently English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and German).
stream-db is a database-enabled version of streamcast, an MP3 file streamer for icecast/shoutcast servers. stream-db uses a database for the backend instead of perl data structures. The database holds song information, play queues, event logs and request logs. The aim the project is to allow people to create their own streaming media stations, with users, requests, song histories, and playlists and other such fun things.
Xmcd is a full-featured CD player and ripper software suite including xmcd and cda. Both utilities transform your CD drive into a stereo CD player, allowing you to play music CDs on your computer, as well as perform digital audio extraction (DAE) into files or streams of various formats. Multi-disc CD changers are also supported on many platforms. Xmcd features CDDB disc recognition, web browser integration for content related to the playing CD, local discography management, full feature-specific help system, remote control capability, and more.
Xmmix is an audio mixer utility for the X window system using the OSF/Motif interface. It works with the Linux sound driver as well as any UNIX system running the Open Sound System (OSS) driver. Xmmix is user-friendly and has the ability to save/retrieve mixer settings to/from files.
