Mup produces very high quality PostScript printed music or a MIDI file from a text input file. It can handle almost any kind of music, instrumental or vocal, including tablature, shaped notes, guitar grids, alternate tunings, user-defined symbols, and much more. Mup has been under active development since 1992.
Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex, and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins. Inside lives a pesky little virtual stylus called Scrubby who enjoys mixing around in your files.
MP3c is a curses-based audio CD-to-MP3/OGG converter with CDDB support. It can be used in an interactive menu environment or a batch mode which lets you encode automatically. Artekopia Netjuke is a cross-platform Web-based audio streaming jukebox powered by PHP 4 and an increasing choice of databases. MP3, Ogg Vorbis, ASF/WMA, and other music file formats are supported. Artekopia Netjuke aims to enable small organizations or communities run a private "mp3.com-like" Web site to access the music they legitimately own, distribute, or are granted access to. It supports most audio players, language packs, optional file downloads, media protection schemes, multi-level security, shared and private playlists, random playlists, images, etc. It also features an unusual, easy-to-use installer module to get you started in minutes.
cdrkit is CD Recording Kit, a collection of applications related to creation of optical disk media on Unix platforms, from creation of the filesystems used on such media to the actual burning process. It is heavily based on the cdrtools package (partially developed and maintained by Joerg Schilling before), but is maintained independently.
Tunez is an MP3/Ogg jukebox that works with a voting system. You can vote for your favorite tracks via the Web interface, and the Tunez daemon will take care of the rest. It is ideal for shared work environments and LAN parties. Tunez also works equally well as an interface to an Icecast server (v2.0 is supported via Ices v0.3). Tunez makes it easy to update ID3 tags for all your MP3s. Support for grabbing Amazon art in included for all of your favorite albums. A full user/group permission scheme is available so that you can customize Tunez for your own use.
Q-Midi is a MIDI interface module which allows you to write MIDI applications in the Q programming language. It runs on top of Grame's MidiShare package. Most basic MidiShare functionality is available, including timing functions for realtime programming and MIDI file access. A sample MIDI player application is included (which requires Tcl/Tk).
Ice Sound Manager was designed to ease the management of sound events, sound themes, and the IceSound server in the IceWM window manager. It is also intended to be an improvement upon the noble but primitive icesndcfg. The main improvements over icesndcfg include a support for sound event "themes", more comprehensive help, easy management and configuration of the IceSound server, a cleaner GUI interface, automatic starting of the IceSound server, and a more conservative approach to disk space usage.
