orDrumbox is a fully-featured drum machine and audio sequencer that is pattern oriented, has an automatic composer, automatic sound assignations, custom drum kits, loop support, and the ability to import and export songs. Its main features are a pattern seqencer, a drumkit editor, a piano roll, a step sequencer, sound generation, soft synth, and the ability to import and export MIDI files and Wave files.
Sfront compiles MPEG 4 Structured Audio (MP4-SA) programs into efficient C programs that generate audio when executed. MP4-SA is a standard for normative algorithmic sound, which combines an audio signal processing language (SAOL) with score languages (MIDI and SASL). Under Mac OS X and Linux, sfront supports real-time, low-latency audio input/output and MIDI input. Under Mac OS X, sfront supports the creation of AudioUnit plug-ins. The documentation includes a book about SAOL programming.
Faust AUdio STreams is an expressive functional programming language for realtime audio signal processing. The Faust compiler translates DSP specifications into efficient C++ code. A variety of platforms and plugin formats are supported. A single Faust specification can be used to easily generate JACK and ALSA applications, as well as LADSPA, MAX/MSP, PD, Q, SC, and VST plugins. In addition to C++ code, the Faust compiler can also generate SVG block-diagram representations as well as XML descriptions.
Swami is an instrument patch file editor using SoundFont files that allows you to create and distribute instruments from audio samples used for composing music. It uses FluidSynth, a software synthesizer, which has real time effect control, support for modulators, and routable audio via JACK. This project supersedes the Smurf SoundFont Editor, and is an entire object-oriented rewrite of it. The supporting libraries are GUI-independant and can be used in your own programs for doing SoundFont manipulation.
AlsaPlayer is a new PCM player written with the ALSA sound system in mind. It also includes support for JACK, OSS, NAS, and ESD. It makes extensive use of multi-threading and supports OGG, MP3, WAV, CDDA (CD Digital Audio), MOD, S3M, IT, and many other input types. Features include a real- time effects stream, variable speed/pitch control, SHOUTcast/icecast streaming support, multiple active visual scopes, command line mode, playlists, plugin architecture, low-latency mode, and more.
Bristol Audio Synthesiser is an emulator for diverse keyboard instruments. Currently about 20 are implemented: various Moog, Sequencial Circuits, Oberheim, Yamaha, Roland, Hammond, Korg, ARP, and Vox algorithms. The application consists of an audio engine and an associated graphical user interface called Brighton which acts as a dedicated master keyboard for each emulation.
AZR3-JACK is a port of the free VST plugin AZR-3. It is a tonewheel organ with drawbars, distortion and rotating speakers. The original was written by Rumpelrausch Täips. The organ has three sections, two polyphonic with 9 drawbars each and one monophonic bass section with 5 drawbars. The two polyphonic sections respond to events on MIDI channel 1 and 2, and an optional keyboard split function makes the bass section listen to the lower keys on channel 1. The three sections have separate sustain and percussion switches as well as separate volume controls, and the two polyphonic sections have separate vibrato settings. All three sections are mixed and sent through the distortion effect and the rotating speakers simulator, where the modulation wheel can be used to switch between fast and slow rotation, and the fast and slow rotation speeds themselves can be changed separately for the lower and upper frequencies.
