bcr beats is a beat slicer that lets you cut up and play with an audio sample: you can trigger slices and loops with MIDI or the mouse and keyboard, set pan, volume, and sample rate values, and generally have lots of fun. The interface is based on the Behringer BCR2000 MIDI controller, which means lots of knobs. It can be used with or without a controller.
bcr harms takes a model of the quantum harmonic oscillator and adapts it as a soft synth. It lets you hear and see how the oscillator wave functions evolve in real-time as you modify amplitudes and other parameters. The user interface is based on and integrates with the BCR2000 MIDI controller, but the application can be used without a controller.
Twibright Syntring is a purely algorithmic string synthesizer with ASCII tab input and wav output. It doesn't use any samples, yet sounds quite realistic. Timbre, volume, and timing are adjustable in the tab file. It can be used for learning or practicing guitar or bass playing, for editing and synthesizing one's own tunes, or producing MIDI sound fonts. It is very lightweight and portable, and doesn't require any libraries.
Calf is a set of audio effect plugins. Several plugins are provided: flanger, reverb, multimode filter, vintage delay, phaser, simple monophonic VA synthesizer, and organ/pad synthesizer. LADSPA+LRDF, DSSI, and LV2 versions are available, as well as GTK+ based UIs and a standalone application using GTK+2 and JACK.
ebook2cw is a command line program that converts a plain text file (like an eBook) to Morse code (CW) MP3 or OGG files. Morse parameters like speed and tone frequency, and audio parameters such as bit rate, sample rate, and quality can be changed by command line switches. It automatically splits and numbers the output files by chapters.
Gleam is a software sound synthesizer. It receives timestamped synthesis events such as note on or program change and generates a raw audio stream. Early versions will provide wavetable synthesis based on the SoundFont 2 standard, but support for other synthesis models may be added in the future. Gleam is intended as a library that provides sound synthesis capabilities to other projects, but a few simple executable examples are included.
Faust AUdio STreams is an expressive functional programming language for realtime audio signal processing. The Faust compiler translates DSP specifications into efficient C++ code. A variety of platforms and plugin formats are supported. A single Faust specification can be used to easily generate JACK and ALSA applications, as well as LADSPA, MAX/MSP, PD, Q, SC, and VST plugins. In addition to C++ code, the Faust compiler can also generate SVG block-diagram representations as well as XML descriptions.
