X2c is an Xbase compiler that creates executable programs from Xbase source on any Unix or C platform. This is accomplished by creating C source from the Xbase source, compiling, and linking with included Xbase function libraries. Whilst the C source is considered an intermediate stage for X2c, it can be used and developed as any other C source. The X2c dialect of Xbase accepts virtually all statements from Borland (was Ashton-Tate), dBASE III PLUS, Computer Associates (was Nantucket), Clipper (Summer '87), and Microsoft (was Fox Software) FoxBASE (2.1). Selected Foxpro statements are also supported.
SWISH stands for Simple Web Indexing System for Humans. With it you can index directories of files and search the generated indexes. Based on EIT's swish, this is a cleaner-compiling, enhanced version with better docs, better installation and configuration tools, more sample configurations, and a Web page to help manage index rebuilding. SWISH is used with w4ais as a Web-based front end.
w4ais is a gateway between a forms-capable Web browser and an indexing/search program, based on the old EIT wwwwais program. This new version is tested completely with swish 1.2 and above, and should still work with freeWAIS. This version allows easy and thorough customization of the search page look and feel, and includes help and various utilities to install and configure multiple interfaces for various users or sites on a single system.
SecurityFocus ARIS Extractor is a sophisticated Intrusion Detection System (IDS) log analyzer and reporting system, integrated with the SecurityFocus ARIS web site. It allows administrators to upload Intrusion Detection System (IDS) logs to the SecurityFocus ARIS Web site, producing sophisticated reporting, and research attacks and events. By filtering out insignificant or benign data and converting it to a common (XML) format, ARIS extractor streamlines incident reporting for both security professionals and home users, allowing IDS operators to focus only on relevant attacks and incidents. It allows you to analyze and archive logged incidents, cross reference incidents/attacks with the SecurityFocus Vulnerability Database, look up contact information for offending IP addresses, generate personal incident statistics and reports, automatically identify and report important incidents, reduce the amount of time spent parsing IDS logs, and generate daily summary reports, delivered by email (optional). All of this is done without revealing any information that could be used to discern your identity. It can be configured to obfuscate IP addresses, names, and other pertinent details before submitting them to the ARIS Analyzer web site. It supports Snort, Cisco Secure IDS, Dragon, NetProwler, RealSecure, BlackICE Defender, and ICEPac.
Ch is an embeddable C/C++ interpreter for cross-platform scripting, shell programming, 2D/3D plotting, numerical computing, and embedded scripting. It is the simplest solution to numerical computing and visualization in the domain of C/C++. It supports the ISO 1990 C Standard (C90), major features in C99 (complex numbers, variable length arrays or VLAs, type generic functions, long long data type, etc), classes in C++, and extensions to the C language like nested functions, string types, etc. It can be embedded in other applications and hardware and used as a scripting language. C/C++ code is interpreted directly with no compilation to intermediate code. It supports Linux, Windows, MacOS X, Solaris, HP-UX, and FreeBSD.
backupIT is a script to backup local and remote filesystems onto a remote tape drive. It includes a collection of functions to send mail, to use system commands to drive a tape library, and to use NetBackup(tm) to drive a tape library. backupIT uses rsh/ssh to connect to remote hosts, and it supports ufs, vxfs, and ext2 file systems. It works on Solaris, Slackware Linux, and Red Hat Linux systems. backupIT requires the dump utility, which might not be installed on Linux systems.
Get Patches is a small Perl tool for the retrieval of Solaris patches (IA and SPARC). A rather ugly shell script for applying the downloaded patches is included since you might not always want to apply the patches automatically. Get Patches requires the Sun patchdiag tool and Perl (including the LWP module).
