gnokii is a multisystem tool suite for mobile phones. It provides a library to communicate with a phone hiding the communication protocol. The library handles SMS, phonebook, calendar, phone calls, and other mobile phone capabilities. It supports Nokia-FBUS mobiles, AT-capable phones (most of the mobiles), as well as Symbian-based phones.
The SMS Server Tools send and receive short messages through GSM modems or mobile phones. Messages are stored as text files in spool directories. External programs or scripts of any language can be used to filter, inspect, and answer messages automatically. Events and alarms can be passed to scripts for integration in monitoring tools. The program generates performance statistics as well. This daemon supports 7, 8, and 16 bit character sets as well as binary data (ringtones, logos, wap-push), user data header, flash, and delivery reports.
cclite is a lightweight implementation of a community currency registry for local exchange trading systems (LETS) and other alternative money systems. It uses multi-registry, multi-currency, Web-services-based (SOAP) transactions, and is templated to give multi-lingual properties. As of 2009, it has an SMS interface and versions for Debian, cpanel-based, Fedora and Windows XP. As of 2012 it has decimal currencies, templates for many languages, and a REST-style interface for integration with CMS and social networking software.
