Soicmp consists of a server and a client. It allows a user to connect to a remote shell daemon by using the ICMP protocol instead of TCP. Entirely written in Python, soicmp is a working proof-of-concept to demonstrate that data can be transmitted across a network by hiding it in traffic that normally does not contain payloads.

The d command runs a command in the background and redirects its output to a file. The output file is annotated with start and end time, the actual command used, cwd, host, etc. You can ask the d command to extract the last command from the output file and run it again, you can ask it to append to the file or not, and other goodies. It comes with handy little programs to look at the output, tail it, etc. It is sort of trivial, but has been streamlined over many years.

The difference between this program and the bash builtin "read" command is that this program allows you to specify text that will be initially placed into the input edit buffer. That is, you can specify "default" input text that has been "pre-typed" for the user.

DBAShell is a project based around Shell functions and scripts designed to make it easy for DBAs to use databases in a command line environment. It offers automatic setting of environment variables, functions to run scripts, store and provide script passwords, check database status, stop/start databases, run script commands in a parallel, compile all database objects, etc. Currently supported is Oracle with ksh and bash on AIX, Solaris, and Linux. The code base itself is 3 years old and has been in use in production environments the entire time.
