The Bourne shell does not provide as many features as newer Unix shells, but it does provide a stable shell language. With this in mind, it is also suitable for general script processing and interactive use. The system administrator can define which commands may be executed by the user. No other executables are allowed. The admin also has the opportunity to define what kind of files the user may create.
