rrs is a reverse (connecting) remote shell. Instead of listening, it will connect out to rrs in listen mode. The listener will accept the connection and receive a shell from the remote host. rrs features full pseudo-TTY support, full OpenSSL support (client/server authentication and choice of cipher suites), Twofish encryption, a simple XOR cipher, plain-text sessions, peer-side session snooping, a daemon option, and reconnection features. It is known to compile and run under Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, and QNX.
eltclsh (editline Tcl shell) is an interactive shell for the Tcl programming language. It provides command line editing, history browsing, and variables and command completion thanks to editline features. The completion engine is programmable in a way similar to tcsh, and comes with built in completion for the entire Tcl language by default. The package also provides elwish, an interactive interpreter for the Tk toolkit. You need the editline library in order to compile eltclsh.
The FReakSHell aims to be a sh-compatible shell and command language interpreter that has some advanced features that can not be found in other shells. It aims towards POSIX compliance by trying to implement the IEEE POSIX Shell and Tools specification (IEEE Working Group 1003.2). Advanced features include advanced job control (i.e. job exchange between different processes, dynamic repiping) and built-in auto-completion.
Nast is a packet sniffer and a LAN analyzer based on Libnet and Libpcap. It can sniff the packets on a network interface in normal mode or in promiscuous mode. It dumps the headers of packets and the payload in ASCII or ASCII-hex format. Various packet filters can be applied. The data sniffed can be saved in a separate file. As an analysis tool, it can check for other NICs on the network which are set in promiscuous mode, build a list of all hosts on a LAN, find a gateway, perform port scanning on a multiple hosts, catch daemon banners, follow the TCP data stream, reset a connection, and determine whether a link type is a hub or switch.
HenPlus is a SQL shell written in Java that works for any database that has JDBC support. It provides commandline history, commandline completion, and can handle multiple connects to different databases at once. Database-independant table dumps, aliases, and variables are also supported.
optcomplete is a Python module that provides programmable shell completion support for Python scripts that use the optparse module. It implements the Bash completion protocol, and a simple common shell function invokes the script to provide the completion suggestions. As an optparse parser already contains most of the useful information to provide completions, only two lines of code are required to provide basic support for completions to an existing script. It also allows the developer to provide per-option completion, etc.
The Aardvark Shell Utils is a collection of three utilities designed to aid the user when working with shell scripts or from the command line. All three accept input on the command line or from standard input, and thus they can be piped with other commands. All commands come with their own man page. Included are realpath, filebase, and fileext.
Extended pipelining is an easy-to-use pipeline process (re)director. It has the main ability to run any number of subprocesses and redirect them basic filedescriptors. Basic filedescriptors are 0 (standart input), 1 (standart output) and 2 (standart errput). There is no restriction of pipe connection except that process outputs (output, errput) must be bound with one or more processes input.
