ViitorLinux is a Linux distribution for server systems. It's configured and managed like Solaris systems (with some changes in paths). It has a build script system which allows you to build the whole distribution from source with different C-flags and options. It has its own package management system completly written in Bash. Its build scripts allow you to create a bootable installation and live DVD from the previously generated binary packages.
Mail2Web is a gateway between email and Web service for places where no direct Internet connection is available, but email can be used. This script can be installed in the .forward file of an email-enabled Unix account and will then translate simple email commands into Web page fetches. Authorized users are identified by their "from" address and a password in the subject line.
gitolite is an access control layer on top of git. It allows you to setup git hosting on a central server, and have multiple "virtual" users (i.e., not "Unix" users) access multiple git repositories, with fine grained access control (read control at the repo level granularity, write control at branch/tag/file/dir level). It has several other features, comprehensive documentation, does not require root permissions, and does not depend on anything except git, Perl 5.8 or later, and any POSIX shell.
Opsview Core is a network monitoring software application. It solves the challenges of monitoring modern IT and network systems. It is a drop-in replacement for Nagios Core, with full support for its plugins and 100% compatibility. It is easy to install and configure and is ideal for monitoring applications networks, and Windows, Linux, and Unix servers. VMWare, KVM, Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V are supported, and Amazon EC2 and other cloud services can be monitored. It works with Opsview Mobile to allow you to monitor your systems on the go.
dhcpy6d delivers IPv6 addresses for DHCPv6 clients, which can be identified by DUID, hostname, or MAC address, as in the good old IPv4 days. Addresses may be generated randomly, by range, or by arbitrary ID or MAC address. Clients can get more than one address, leases and client configuration can be stored in databases, and DNS can be updated dynamically.
check_mssql_health is a plugin for Nagios that allows you to monitor an MS SQL Server. Among the list of metrics are time to login, buffer cache hit rate, page life expectancy, full table scan rate, free space in databases, batch requests/second, and many more. Installation of the DBD::Sybase Perl module is required.
Syncless is an experimental, lightweight, non-blocking (asynchronous) client and server socket network communication library implemented in Stackless Python 2.6. It contains an asynchronous DNS resolver (using dnspython) and an HTTP server capable of serving WSGI applications. It aims to be a coroutine-based alternative of event-driven networking engines (such as Twisted and FriendFeed's Tornado). It is already about that fast, but it has fewer features and is less stable now.
