CTSim is a Computed Tomography simulator. It simulates the process of obtaining x-ray data around a phantom object. It then uses various reconstruction algorithms for reconstructing the original image. It supports animation of projection and reconstruction processes, 3-dimensional viewing using OpenGL as well as cross platform support using GTK and Win32.
distributed.net is a loosely knit group of computer users from all of the world that is taking up challenges requiring lots of computing power (most notably the RC5, DES, and OGR cracking contests). It is simple to participate in the challenges by downloading and running their client software (which uses idle CPU time to complete its tasks).
Oww (One-Wire Weather) is a client program for Dallas Semiconductor / AAG 1-wire weather station kits, providing a graphical (animated) display to monitor outside temperature, wind speed and direction, rainfall, and humidity. Extra temperature sensors may be added. A 1-wire "hub" may be used for improved reliability and range. Weather data may be logged to CSV files, parsed to command line programs, sent to the Henriksen Windows client, or uploaded to Web servers at Dallas, The Weather Underground, and HAMweather.
PLOTICUS is a command line utility for creating bar, line, pie, boxplot, scatterplot, sweep, heatmap, vector, timeline, Venn diagrams, and other types of charts and plots. ploticus is good for automated or just-in-time graph generation. It handles date, time, and categorical data nicely, and has some basic statistical capabilities. It can output to GIF, PNG, SVG, SWF, JPEG, PostScript, EPS, and X11. You can use convenient preset options or create complex scripts with rich and detailed color and style operations.
PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) is a portable message-passing programming system, designed to link separate host machines to form a ``virtual machine'' which is a single, manageable computing resource. The virtual machine can be composed of hosts of varying types, in physically remote locations. PVM applications can be composed of any number of separate processes, or components, written in a mixture of C, C++ and Fortran. The system is portable to a wide variety of architectures, including workstations, multiprocessors, supercomputers and PCs.
QCad is a powerful but easy to use 2D CAD program for Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. It uses DXF as its standard file format. While other CAD packages are often rather complicated to use, QCad tries to stay comfortable, and even an absolute beginner can create professional drawings with a minimum of effort.
SetiContainer is a C++ class that allows convenient access to all the information in the state files of a SETI@home client. It periodically examines these files and updates its own data members accordingly. Other programs can use this class to extract information about the progress of the client, the found signals, or the work unit being processed. Additional functions offer more advanced info (like the amount of TeraFlops in a work unit, estimated time of completion, etc.). The SetiContainer class is based on the Qt toolkit, and extensively uses Qt's Signal/Slot technique.
