Asymptote is a powerful descriptive 2D and 3D vector graphics language for technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods. High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself, allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
GAMGI (General Atomistic Modelling Graphic Interface) is a program to build, view, and analyze atomic strucures such as molecules, crystals, glasses, liquids, etc. It aims to be useful for: the scientific community working in Atomistic Modelling that needs a graphic interface to build input data and to view and analyse output data, calculated with Ab-Initio and Molecular Mechanics programs; the scientific community at large studying chemistry, physics, materials science, geology, etc., that needs a graphic interface to view and analyse atomic structural information and to prepare images for presentations in classes and seminars; teaching chemistry and physics in secondary schools and universities; science promotion in schools, exhibitions and science museums.
The Java Algebra System (JAS) is an object oriented, type safe, multi-threaded approach to computer algebra. JAS provides a well designed software library using generic types for algebraic computations implemented in the Java programming language. The library can be used as any other Java software package, or it can be used interactively or interpreted through a Jython or JRuby front end. The focus at the moment is on commutative and solvable polynomials, power-series, multivariate polynomial factorization, Gröbner bases, and applications.
The Gnome Chemistry Utils includes the following programs: a 2D chemical editor (GChemPaint), a chemical calculator (computes raw formule, molar weight, mass composition, and isotopic pattern), a 3D molecule viewer using OpenGL to display molecular models, a crystal structure viewer and editor, a spectrum viewer, and a periodic table of the elements.
tinyMAS is a multiagent platform that provides base concepts (such as kernel, message, yellow pages, white pages, and transport service) and extended concepts (such as environment, influence, and perception). It aims to provide an easy-to-understand and and easy-to-use platform dedicated for multiagent engineer/research courses. TinyMAS is no longer under development. A large amount of its source code has been merged into the Janus platform.
GSL shell offers an interactive user interface that gives access to the GSL collection of mathematical functions. It is based on the powerful and elegant scripting language Lua. GSL shell is not just a wrapper over the C API of GSL, but offers a much more simple and expressive way to use GSL. The objective is to give the user the power to easily access GSL functions without having to write a complete C application. It also has a powerful module to produce plots or almost any kind of graphics based on data or functions.
linSmith is a Smith charting program. Users can enter either discrete components or transmission lines, see the results on screen, and/or generate Postscript output. Component values can be changed numerically or using scrollbars. Problems can be solved on-screen, and high-quality Postscript can be output for publication.
