DNSdoctor is a tool based on zonecheck that is intended to help with solving misconfigurations and inconsistencies in DNS zone files. It features a powerful configuration file, does not depend on policies, fine grained test selection (by test, categories, or zones), full IPv6 support (connectivity and AAAA records), and several input/output interfaces (CLI, GUI, CGI, and a dedicated mode for use inside shell scripts). It uses threads to cut down checking time and can be extended with new tests, interfaces, and reports, and features exception and cache mechanisms to simplify test writing.
Unhide.rb finds hidden processes on your system. It looks for active processes in many different ways. Processes found by some means but not others are considered to be "hidden", and are reported to the user. Unhide.rb is a Ruby rewrite of the original Unhide, which was written in C. Unhide.rb performs the same checks as the original, but is 10 times faster in only half as much code, and has better diagnostics when hidden processes are found.
Ruby/Google offers a higher-level abstraction of Google's SOAP-driven Web API. It allows the user to programatically query the Google search engine from Ruby. The aim of the library is to shield the programmer from the details of the raw data structures returned by the Web API, and in the process make the API more accessible for everyday use.
The Marionette Collective (mcollective) is a framework to build server orchestration or parallel job execution systems. It uses modern technologies and concepts that make it ideal for large and cloud-based infrastructures. It's specifically geared towards systems administration tasks, but can be seen as a generic framework too.
Zorba is a general-purpose XQuery processor implementing in C++ the W3C family of specifications. It is not an XML database. The query processor has been designed to be embeddable in a variety of environments, such as other programming languages extended with XML processing capabilities, browsers, database servers, XML message dispatchers, or smartphones. Its architecture employes a modular design, which allows customizing the Zorba query processor to the environment’s needs. In particular, the architecture of the query processor allows a pluggable XML store (e.g. main memory, DOM stores, persistent disk-based large stores, and S3 stores).
newfile generates "starting-out" files using a full featured template preprocessor. It can also generate trees of files, for example, a FreeBSD port or a project using automake and autoconf. A user can add their own template files and directories to those supplied with the package. It includes templates for making "empty" files for Ruby, make, shell, C, C++, C & C++ headers, and more.
