JSX serializes Java objects to XML. You can persist objects, evolve them, and send them over the network and between applications. Your object data becomes human-readable and human-writable. You can test it, search it, profile it, audit it, and edit it with ordinary text and XML tools. JSX handles all POJOs and also all classes that require Java's own object serialization.
SuperRescue is a single very large bootable system-on-a-disk. It's based on the observation that the vast majority of systems allow you to do so much more than the minimal system. Therefore, it isn't for everything, but for most desktop systems, it provides a much nicer rescue environment than your average rescue floppy. It requires an i386 PC with 24 MB of RAM and a bootable CD-ROM. PCMCIA support is implemented but somewhat limited. It is based on RedHat 7. (Version 1 is based on RedHat 6.)
The Linux Bootdisk HOWTO describes how to design and build boot/root diskettes for Linux on the Intel platform. These disks can be used as rescue disks or to test new system components. You should be reasonably familiar with system administration tasks before attempting to build a bootdisk.
skill sends signals to processes given any combination of user names, ttys, commands, and pids. snice changes the priority of processes (given the same). They are similar to kill(1) and renice(8), but the commandline is order-independent. There are also verbose, search, and interactive modes of operation.
Vexira Antivirus is virus defense system. It can identify which files may contain malicious code requiring further investigation, which greatly increases virus scanning speed. It features the ability to scan files automatically as they are accessed, configurable path protection, email notification, blocking of access to infected files, options to repair, rename, or delete infected files, automated Internet updating, virus scan archives (.zip, .rar, gz, .tar, etc.), a commandline scanner, scalable concurrent scanning, heuristic detection of new macro viruses, and low system resource requirements.
Simple Rescue CD is a small Linux rescue CD, suitable for booting systems that have become unbootable due to filesystem corruption or other problems. It lies somewhere between minimalist boot floppies and large full-featured rescue systems, and as such is suitable for when space is tight, such as on business card CDs.
Storix Backup Administrator (SBAdmin) provides both an intuitive graphical user interface and command line options for performing backups of a standalone system, or managing backups of all Linux and AIX systems on a network. In addition to backing up data onto a network server, tape, or disk device, it can reinstall a complete system from scratch, clone or migrate systems, manage volumes and RAID devices, and restore data in any configuration you choose. It features easily accessible documentation.
Sequoia provides high availability and performance scalability for databases. It is is the continuation of the C-JDBC project. It provides transparent database clustering (partitioning, replication, etc.). It works with any Java application without code modification and with any database engine. It has been successfully tested with Tomcat, JBoss, JOnAS, WebSphere, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Apache Derby, HSQLDB, SAP DB, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, MS SQL Server, Firebird, and more.
