Berkeley DB (libdb) is a programmatic toolkit that provides embedded database support for both traditional and client/server applications. It includes b+tree, queue, extended linear hashing, fixed, and variable-length record access methods, transactions, locking, logging, shared memory caching, database recovery, and replication for highly available systems. DB supports C, C++, C#, Java, PHP, and Perl APIs. It supports key-value pair (NoSQL), SQL, and Java Object formatted data. GCompris is an educational software suite with numerous activities for children aged 2 to 10. Some of the activities are game-orientated, but nonetheless still educational. These include computer discovery (keyboard, mouse, different mouse gestures), algebra (table memory, enumeration, double entry table, mirror image), science (the canal lock, the water cycle, the submarine, electric simulation), geography (place the country on the map), games (chess, memory, connect 4, oware, sudoku), reading practice, and others (learn to tell time, puzzles of famous paintings, vector drawing, cartoon making, etc.). It currently offers in excess of 100 activities, and more are being developed.
Viewmol is a program for building and editing molecules as well as for the visualization of outputs from quantum chemical and molecular mechanics programs. Currently supported are Gaussian 9x, Gamess, Discover, DMol/DSolid/DMol3, Gulp, Mopac, Turbomole, and PDB files. Properties visualized include geometry (with various drawing modes), vibration (animated or with arrows), optimization history/MD trajectories, MO energy level diagram, MOs, basis functions, and electron density. Drawings can be saved as TIFF, HPGL, Postscript, and input files for Rayshade. Viewmol has an embedded Python interpreter for automation. The program is language independent and currently "speaks" English, French, German, Russian, or Spanish.
wxDesigner is a dialog editor and RAD tool for the wxWindows C++ library and its popular Python and Perl bindings. It includes a visual dialog editor, a bitmap editor, a syntax-highlighting source editor, and built-in mechanisms for automatic generation of file skeletons, GUI classes, event handlers, and getter functions. It provides an identical user interface and identical functionality for C++, Perl, and Python, and it can generate output in C++, Python, Perl, and XML.
The pilot-link suite of tools contains a robust library and a series of conduits for moving information between your desktop or workstation and your Palm handheld device, such as those made by Palm, Sony, Handspring, Handera, and others. It also includes language bindings for languages such as Perl, Python, and Java.
KInterbasDB is a Python extension package that implements Python Database API 2.0-compliant support for the open source relational database Firebird and some versions of its proprietary cousin Borland Interbase. In addition to the minimal feature set of the standard Python DB API, KInterbasDB also exposes nearly the entire native client API of the database engine.
Soulseek (http://www.slsknet.org) is a communication and file-sharing system.
