The WorldForge Project is developing a complete, distributable framework for massively multiplayer online roleplaying games. The system will include a number of fully developed roleplaying worlds with unique maps, histories, creatures and legends. To run these worlds on the servers a balanced but highly customisable set of roleplaying rules is being developed. Provisions will be made to allow others the ability to recode the servers to use alternate rule sets. A standard protocol named Atlas is being developed to allow a common communication layer between clients, servers, and associated tools. Guido van Robot, or GvR for short, is a minimalistic programming language that provides just enough syntax to help students learn the concepts of sequencing, conditional branching, looping, and procedural abstraction. Its biggest strength is that it permits this learning in an environment that combines the thrill of problem-solving with instant visual feedback.
Plucker is an offline Web and eBook viewer for Palm OS-based handheld devices and PDAs. It comes with Unix/Linux tools and conduits, and Windows and Mac OS X conduits that let you decide exactly what part of the Web you want to view on your PDA (as long as it's in standard HTML or text format). The requested Web pages are processed, compressed, and transferred to the PDA for viewing by the Plucker viewer.
The PLEAC project aims to re-implement the solutions presented in the Perl Cookbook (by Tom Christiansen & Nathan Torkington, published by O'Reilly) in other programming languages. If successful, this project may become a primary resource for quick, handy, free solutions to most common programming problems using higher-level programming languages. It could also be useful for comparison on ease-of-use and power/efficiency of these languages.
TextSearch is a program to search through a set of text files in a directory structure. Each document is searched using a regular expression and an overview of the results is shown as a tree structure. By clicking on a file, it can be viewed, with matches being highlighted. As opposed to other programs out there, its focus is not so much on statistics, i.e. how often a word would occur in an entire corpus of files, but rather on occurrences in single files.
