XCircuit is a UNIX/X11 program for drawing publishable-quality electrical circuit schematic diagrams and related figures, and producing circuit netlists through schematic capture. XCircuit regards circuits as inherently hierarchical, and writes both hierarchical PostScript output and hierarchical SPICE netlists. Circuit components are saved in and retrieved from libraries which are fully editable. XCircuit does not separate artistic expression from circuit drawing; it maintains flexiblity in style without compromising the power of schematic capture.
The Mobile Web Proxy is a (CGI) tool to make more Web pages available from some mobile devices (cell phone Web browsers, etc.). It employs tag cleaning and paging so that Web pages it can access have far greater chances of being rendered on devices that cannot display overly large or complex pages. It is simple, but it seems to substantially extend the portion of the Web available from devices that otherwise display messages like "413: Page cannot be displayed."
SearchLog can be used as a searchable weblog. It is designed with usability in mind, and uses highlighting and easy linking between entries to give the user maximum power for minimum effort. It is much more than a weblog, however. It was designed as a knowledge management tool. It serves as a personal information management tool and portal. It is powerful and versatile enough to do several jobs well.
The PyGE project aims to provide free cross-platform desktop applications to make the growing collection of copyright-free literary works from Project Gutenberg more accessible to the typical computer user. The suite includes PyGETS, a program for searching and downloading available PG e-texts, PyGEMZ, a program for converting e-texts to a format suitable for both desktop and Palm PDA usage, and PyGERS, a program for comfortably viewing e-texts which includes basic text-to-speech capabilities.
The Data Mine is a search engine designed to make a more useful interface available to users. It is designed around human-computer intelligent interaction considerations. It divides the screen into two halves. One lets you find all the instances of your query's keywords, and the other lets you look through a highlighted version of the results you choose.
The Python Macromolecular Library (mmLib) is a software toolkit and library of routines for the analysis and manipulation of macromolecular structural models, implemented in the Python programming language. It is accessed via a layered, object-oriented application programming interface, and provides a range of useful software components for parsing mmCIF, PDB, and MTZ files, a library of atomic elements and monomers, an object-oriented data structure describing biological macromolecules, and an OpenGL molecular viewer. The mmLib data model is designed to provide easy access to the various levels of detail needed to implement high-level application programs for macromolecular crystallography, NMR, modeling, and visualization. This includes specialized classes for proteins, DNA, amino acids, and nucleic acids.
