Fabula is a Python game engine suitable for adventure, role-playing, and strategy games and digital interactive storytelling. It offers a client-server architecture, an event-based protocol, multiplayer and networking capabilities, a multi-threaded server, an abstract, visualization-agnostic model of a game world, an asset manager, and a plugin system. Gameplay can be recorded and played back. The code is well documented and runs on Linux and MS Windows (it should work on OS X, too, but this has not yet been tested). Fabula can be used as a library to develop your own games. As an alternative, you can use the included Pygame-based graphical editor and the default game engine.
Diagnil is a GUI application to help solvers of diagramless crossword puzzles. It accommodates puzzles distributed electronically using several file formats (puz, jpz, xpf, and ipuz) as well as those distributed in print form. Although software for conventional crosswords has existed for years, the diagramless variant has received little attention. Diagnil attempts to fill that void. It lets you solve puzzles by entering words, placing them on a grid, and moving them around the screen until the final shape is achieved.
gShogi is a Shogi (Japanese chess) game. It features loading and saving of games, setting the level of play, retracting moves, choosing Eastern or Western pieces, opening book, resizing the board, and support for USI engines. gShogi is based on GNU Shogi. It uses engine code and graphics for the board pieces from GNU Shogi. It has a new front end GUI for GNOME.
Beneath A Binary Sky is an engine that simulates a world in which robots controlled by programs can live, work, fight, and even bear new children. The long-term goal of the project is to create a fully configurable engine that can simulates any kind of world, from simple to complex ones with many rules and events.
Samuel is a game derived from guicheckers that allows you to play English draughts or American checkers. It features the ability to change the level of play from beginner to expert, load and save games, and edit the board position. It has a fairly strong engine written in C++ coupled to a PyGTK frontend GUI.
Froggix is a clone of the classic '80s arcade game Frogger. The aim of the game is to help four frogs to cross a busy road and a treacherous river to get to their homes. Extra points are awarded for catching flies and completing each level quickly. The game features funky electro-music, great sound effects, and a highscore table.
Angel is a 2D game prototyping engine based on OpenGL and C++. It was originally made by a group of employees at Electronic Arts Los Angeles for use in a GameJam they were planning for April of 2008. Angel provides many useful functions for prototyping gameplay, including simple physics, particles, text rendering, sound, input mappings, config files, pathfinding, and Python scripting.
