Hasard is a pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) library. It includes multiple engines (algorithms): Park-Miller, Mersenne Twister, Linux device (/dev/urandom or /dev/random), and more. It has a simple but powerful API. For example, a PRNG seed can be generated using strong entropy (using a hardware random number generator like /dev/random on Linux). The library is written in C, and a Python binding is available. The word "hasard" is the French word for "randomness" or "chance".
The Maximum Entropy Toolkit provides a set of tools and library for constructing maximum entropy (maxent) models in either Python or C++. It features conditional maximum entropy models, L-BFGS and GIS parameter estimation, Gaussian Prior smoothing, a C++ API, a Python extension module, a command line utility, and good documentation.
MayaVi is a free, cross platform, easy-to-use scientific data visualizer. It provides a powerful GUI to ease the visualization process. It is written in Python and uses the Visualization Toolkit (VTK) for the graphics. MayaVi can be scripted from other Python programs and also from the interactive Python interpreter. MayaVi includes the VTK Pipeline browser. The VTK Pipeline browser is a Python module (vtkPipeline) that enables one to view and configure the objects in the VTK pipeline graphically with a Tkinter-based GUI. The browser should work for any Python script that uses VTK. MayaVi also provides classes to pickle a VTK object and a simple class documentation browser.
RPy is a very simple, yet robust, Python interface to the R Programming Language. It can manage all kinds of R objects and can execute arbitrary R functions (including the graphic functions). All the errors from the R language are converted to Python exceptions. Any module that later were installed on the R system can easily be used from within Python, without introducing any changes.
SPFPM (Simple Python Fixed-Point Module) is a Python module which provides basic facilities for manipulating (binary) fixed-point numbers. The number of fractional binary digits is tunable, allowing near-arbitrary precision arithmetic. Arithmetic and mathematical functions such as sqrt, exp, log, sin, and cos are available.
The Python audio processing suite is a module that contains a variety of convenience functions to process audio signals. It can be used to plot spectral analyses of a song across time and to quickly ascertain encoding quality, but the instrumental goal of this suite is to robustly identify duplicated songs, regardless of which album they were released in, encoding quality, or start time.
