jHepWork (jWork) is an environment for scientific computation, data analysis, and data visualization for scientists, engineers, and students. The program is fully multi-platform (written in Java). Programs can be written in the Java, Jython/Python, and BeanShell scripting languages. Matlab/Octave is supported for symbolic calculations. The program can be used to display data and functions in D and 3D. It comes with a friendly IDE and a code assist.
The National Space Science Data Center's (NSSDC) Common Data Format (CDF) is a self-describing data abstraction for the storage and manipulation of multidimensional data in a platform- and discipline-independent fashion. It consists of a scientific data management package (known as the "CDF Library") that allows programmers and application developers to manage and manipulate scalar, vector, and multi-dimensional data arrays.
The Simple Sockets Library makes sockets easy to use and comes as public domain source code. It resembles C's file I/O, uses whatever port is available, has named servers and port reuse, streaming/blocking sockets used, polling support, blocking/selection support via numerous functions, timeout control and firewall support.
GLE is a library package of C functions that draw extruded surfaces, including surfaces of revolution, sweeps, tubes, polycones, polycylinders and helicoids. Generically, the extruded surface is specified with a 2D polyline that is extruded along a 3D path. A local coordinate system allows for additional flexibility in the primitives drawn. Extrusions may be texture mapped in a variety of ways. The GLE library generates 3D triangle coordinates, lighting normal vectors and texture coordinates as output. GLE uses the GL or OpenGL API's to perform the actual rendering.
Platform Independent Petri Net Editor (PIPE) creates and analyses Petri Nets quickly, efficiently, and effectively. A key design feature is the modular approach adopted for analysis, enabling new modules to be written easily and powerfully, using built-in data layer methods for standard calculations. Six analysis modules are provided, including Invariant Analysis, State-Space Analysis (deadlock, etc.), and Simulation Analysis and Classification. PIPE adheres to the XML Petri net standard (PNML). The file format for saving and loading Petri Nets is extensible through the use of XSLT, the default being PNML.
np is a compact NMEA parser. It provides quick and flexible access to GPS data from various sources. Data can be read from devices, text files, STDIN, or GPSD (raw mode). The list of supported NMEA sentences includes $GPRMC, $GPGGA, $GPGSA, $GPGSV, as well as Garmin's proprietary $PGRME and $PGRMM. By employing user-definable stylesheets, the parser output can be adapted to numerous application scenarios. The parser can be queried directly from the console or through the included Web front end.
geo-* is a set of tools for geocaching, including tools for accessing the www.geocaching.com, opencaching.com, opencaching.us, and navicache.com websites, tools for geocoding addresses and creating maps, and tools for manipulating Mapopolis place guide data. The focus of these tools is to provide a command line driven environment.
