Coherent Mail Gateway is intended to be a very easy to set up MTA using SMTP and POP3. Greylisting is used on the SMTP daemon to reduce spam. In addition, quite a lot of checks on the validity of information from the SMTP client (such as claimed server name and sender) are carried out, and anyone caught telling lies is disconnected. Grey-, black-, and white-listing are supported, as well as (optionally) ClamAV and Spamhaus. The target market is users with static IP addresses. Others can use the system, but its value will be limited to outgoing email.
pop2imap is a tool for facilitating incremental POP to IMAP transfers from one mailbox to another. It is useful for mailbox migration, and reduces the amount of data transferred by only copying messages that are not present on both servers. The process can be stopped and resumed. The original messages can optionally be deleted after a successful transfer.
Virtual Exim is a PHP-enabled Web interface for managing multiple virtual mail domains with Exim and MySQL/PostgreSQL. POP/IMAP accounts, aliases, forwards, and permanent fail accounts can all be created and managed easily without the need for corresponding shell accounts. Virtual Exim also allows the server administrator to designate a SiteAdmin who can create and delete domains on the fly through the interface, so no editing of the Exim configuration file is required. Individual users can also log in to change their "Real Name", passwords, and mail filtering options with ease.
Tim's Webmail is a Web-based POP3 email viewer powered by Java Servlets and JSP. It uses SMTP to send email via the JavaMail API. It's fully compatible with sendmail and QMail. It has a simple user interface, and all basic email functions are available, including attachments. Support for multi-part messages and mailbox filtering is also implemented. The user interface is customizable using the presentation layer JSP pages and the CSS file provided.
Elmtree Express Server is a realistic alternative to the Microsoft Windows server plaftorm. Express Server is a workgroup server solution, providing your business with integrated email, print management, and data storage functionality, all in one easy package. It includes an email server, a central address book via LDAP server, a DHCP server, a central file server, a print server, automated daily backups, GUI administration tools, and more.
pop3spam is a POP3 client which connects to a POP3 server and deletes unsolicited mail. It's possible to check for messages that exceed a certain limit and to scan header lines for special patterns (regular expressions). If a message has been identified as unsolicited, it can be deleted directly from the POP3 server without the need to download it first. Eventually your normal mail-retrieval utility (e.g. fetchmail) can gather all (cleaned) mail as usual.
yaspi (Yosi's Anti-Spam POP3 fIlter bot) is a POP3 mail-scanner specifically made to combat mail bombings caused by viruses (i.e. Swen). It connects to the POP3 server, inspects the messages, and deletes the infected ones without ever downloading them. Its most interesting feature is that it can automatically send abuse reports to the ISPs from which the infected mails originated.
