libgaudio is a C/C++ library to facilitate easy incorporation of sound and sound effects into games. Samples are loaded into memory and playback is then triggered or stopped. The system mixes any number of concurrently playing samples together (up to a predefined maximum). It is also possible to include a background MP3 soundfile in the mix.
Libmmoss enables the Linux version of Netscape Navigator/Communicator to play sounds from Java applets. It is a replacement for Netscape's implementation of (the Java class) sun.audio.AudioDevice (including some JRI native C code). It should work with either the OSS or ALSA sound drivers. The latest version will also work with EsounD.
javashout is a program for shouting mp3s to a shoutcast server. It runs on any system, takes very little cpu time and has some nifty features. You can remotely connect to it via telnet and change options while it's running. You can also attach another shout to the back of javashout, allowing you to alternate between using a playlist and manually choosing songs painlessly without skips or jerks in the sound.
GtkSC is a GTK/Perl based application for viewing the list of streams available via SHOUTcast without waiting a long time for Netscape to draw the HTML tables. It will launch your favorite MP3 player and play the selected stream (provided you have an MP3 player capable of playing HTTP streams)
ctrlxmms is a small Perl script designed to increase the useability of XMMS. With it, you can use most of the common GUI functions of XMMS from the CLI. You also have a few handy commands which are not available from the GUI. Together with lirc and a remote (eg. Anir Multimedia Magic), this is a wonderful tool.
