wavnorm is a simple command line utility to destructively maximize or alter the colume of a stereo .wav file. It's handy for making the volumes of a range of .wav files consistent before or after mp3 conversion, audio CD burning, etc. nplay is a simple .wav player with VU meter and peak meter. nrecord is a simple .wav recorder with VU meter and peak meter. Although simple the VU meter greatly aids getting optimum recording quality. nplay and nrecord use the newt text mode library.
Webplay creates, from a collection of MP3s and Ogg Vorbis files (indexed from a directory or MySQL/PostgreSQL database), a Web-based jukebox with support for multiple independent streams. If Lame/oggenc are available, it can change the bitrate or codec of a file in real time to a selectable value. Each user controls their stream via a Web interface and can skip back, forward, or to a specific track; increment or decrement the bitrate; and check the current playlist, song, or bitrate. Playlists can be looped, randomized, played locally on the webserver, edited, deleted, reused, or renamed.
x10mp3 is a plugin for XMMS to control it using X10's Mp3Remote, which comes with Mp3Anywhere, Mp3Anywhere 2000, or DVDAnywhere. It has all the functionality of X10's BOOM2000 software for Windows, plus other handy features like muting, skipping around inside tracks, and balance control.
