1FCD-OpBSD (also known as Karma BSD) is a one-floppy OpenBSD MP3 player with functionality to mount NTFS, UDF (on DVD, CDROM, or external file), EXT2FS, NFS, MFS, and MSDOS file systems. It plays MP3 tracks, and can copy files from any disk to any disk. The software may be useful for the blind and it can also be used as a unique utility for copying files over a network (via NFS) or from any file system known to OpenBSD. USB sticks can be mounted as well. Static OpenBSD binaries can be made on other systems and used with Karma BSD.
A.M.I.C.U.S. (Automatic Multimedia Installation Configuration Utility System) helps users quickly and easily install and configure MythTV on generic PC hardware. It uses the Debian Netinst CD to install GNU/Linux and just the required packages to allow a functional MythTV on low end hardware.
The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is composed of several parts. The first is a fully modularized sound driver which supports module autoloading, devfs, isapnp autoconfiguration, and gives complete access to analog audio, digital audio, control, mixer, synthesizer, DSP, MIDI, and timer components of audio hardware. It also includes a fully-featured kernel-level sequencer, a full compatibility layer for OSS/Free applications, an object-oriented C library which covers and enhances the ALSA kernel driver functionality for applications (client/server, plugins, PCM sharing/multiplexing, PCM metering, etc.), an interactive configuration program for the driver, and some simple utilities for basic management.
AMIDI-Plug is a MIDI subsystem for XMMS, BMP, and Audacious. It processes MIDI files and sends their events to one of the available backends (currently ALSA, FluidSynth, dummy). With the ALSA backend, any hardware or software synthesizer, as long as it provides ALSA sequence ports, can be used to play MIDI with AMIDI-Plug. With the FluidSynth backend, AMIDI-Plug directly accesses the FluidSynth library for MIDI playback and sends the generated audio into effect and output plugins of the player. A dummy backend is also provided for testing and analysis purposes. Playback is fully functional: play, stop, seek, pause, song information are available.
Acovel is a cross-platform media player (currently running on Linux and Windows). It features an intelligent algorithm that will analyze both ID3 (v1 ahd v2) tags and filenames to fill up its music collection database. Its search feature is very fast. It is currently limited to playing albums, but upcoming versions will make it a full-featured media player.
AlsaPlayer is a new PCM player written with the ALSA sound system in mind. It also includes support for JACK, OSS, NAS, and ESD. It makes extensive use of multi-threading and supports OGG, MP3, WAV, CDDA (CD Digital Audio), MOD, S3M, IT, and many other input types. Features include a real- time effects stream, variable speed/pitch control, SHOUTcast/icecast streaming support, multiple active visual scopes, command line mode, playlists, plugin architecture, low-latency mode, and more.
AlsaPlayer-Python is a set of python bindings. It allows you to write custom interfaces for AlsaPlayer using the full power of the Python language. This may be three lines of code or a large and complex interface. Also provided is a Python module to control AlsaPlayer from external programs.
