DBX works using XML files as its native format. The database can be queried using standard SQL queries. DBX is the smallest, platform independent DBMS, and is extremely easy to migrate to. For small databases, it is a good substitute for MySQL, Oracle, etc. The added advantage is that it saves the data as neat, readable, XML files, allowing easy compatibility.
MidCOM, the Midgard Components Framework, is an MVC framework for the Midgard persistent storage platform. It provides mechanisms for building a Web site using components without much need for writing code to glue all this together. The administration site gets built automatically by using those components. Goodies like a caching engine and sub-requests make site building even easier.
Torba is a comprehensive general-purpose class library and Web application framework written in PHP. The application framework allows one to completely separate the code (business logic) from the presentation (templates), much like Struts, Turbine, Tapestry, and other Java Servlet frameworks do. Torba is 100% object oriented and built using design patterns and extreme programming techniques which enable groups of developers to work together in a more consistent manner. Each class is covered with extensive Unit Test Suite.
