metaf2xml can download, parse, and decode aviation routine weather reports (METAR, SPECI, SAO), aerodrome forecasts (TAF), synoptic observations (SYNOP), and BUOY observations, and store the data as XML. XSLT style sheets convert it to plain language, as HTML or text. Current weather data from NOAA and other sources can be fetched and displayed.
Sql2xml is a CGI program that lets you request a SQL query and convert it to JSON, CSV, XML or INI through a Web server. Sql2xml supports requests from multiple users and for multiple databases. It is intended for developers who do not have direct access to database servers due to firewalls or other restrictions.
XML::Twig is an XML transformation module. It can be used to process huge documents while still being in tree mode; is not bound by DOM or SAX, so it is very Perlish and offers a very comprehensive set of methods; is simple to use; and DWIMs as much as possible. What it doesn't offer: full SAX support (it can export SAX, but only reads XML); full XPath support (unless you use XML::Twig::XPath); nor DOM support. It is also a big module, and with over 500 methods available it can be a bit overwhelming. A good starting point is the online tutorial.
HEBCI is a technique that allows a Web form handler to transparently detect the character set with which its data was encoded. By using carefully-chosen character references, the browser's encoding can be inferred. Thus, it is possible to guarantee that data is in a standard encoding without relying on (often unreliable) Web server/browser encoding interactions.
XML-Grammar-Fiction is a Perl package that provides processors for lightweight markup languages and corresponding XML grammars for writing prose (e.g. stories, novels, and novellas) as well as screenplays. The XML grammars can in turn be translated to XHTML and DocBook/XML. XML-Grammar-Fiction currently offers only very basic functionality, but has good support for UTF-8 and allows one to write bidirectional texts conveniently. It is still under development and may exhibit some quirks.
XML::RDB is a Perl extension to convert XML files into RDB schemas and populate/unpopulate them. It works with XML schemas too. It analyzes relationships within either an XML file or an XML schema to create RDB tables to hold that document (or any XML document that conforms to the XML schema). It takes an XML file or URL as input for the XML::DOM::Parser, and extracts information to build and write DDL. An attempt is made to recognize relations within the XML structure then translate it to the DDL. That generated DDL is then loaded, parsing the DOM tree a second time to extract and load the data. At the bottom of the DDL are select statements to help get a view of those relations found, and XML data. xml_rdb also dumps the data back to XML format.
This module implements an XML::SAX filter which adds line numbers and column numbers to errors generated by SAX handlers further down the pipeline. It was written so that XML::Validator::Schema could blame the correct line of XML for validation failures. You can use this module to enhance the error messages generated by any SAX handler.
VoiceXML::Client is a library that provides Perl programs with the ability to act as a user agent that fetches Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) documents, parses them, and then executes the instructions therein by playing prompts and collecting user DTMF input/voice recordings through a handle to some type of telephone or other device interface. VoiceXML::Client's focus is on the client side. The XML documents are generated by a distinct process of your choice, unrelated to the library.
