Libev is a high-performance event loop for C (with optional and separate interfaces for C++ and Perl), featuring support for I/O, timers (relative and absolute, cron-like ones), signals, process status changes, and other types of events. It has both a fast native API and libevent emulation to support programs written using the libevent API. Differences to libevent include higher speed, simpler design, more features, less memory usage, embedability, and no arbitrary limits. libev supports epoll, kqueue, Solaris event ports, poll, and select.
Net::Z3950::SimpleServer is a Perl module which implements the server side of the Z39.50 (information retrieval) protocol. It hides the complexity of network exchanges, packet serialization, and session handling. You are required only to implement simple callbacks to support searching and record retrieval. It is the basis of the "Zoogle" project, which is a Z39.50 gateway to the Google web index.
Zero RRD Framework provides a central HTTP-based service for importing into standard RRD databases and for generating graphs. A lightweight, easily extendable agent for the data sources pushes updates with minimal resource consumption to the master service using HTTP. With the introduction of VMs for the service, it's easy to test-drive the application and even the architecture (connecting agents to the service in the VM).
Nmap Parser is a Perl module to ease the pain of developing scripts or collecting network information from nmap scans. Nmap::Parser does its task by parsing the information in the output of an nmap scan by using the XML-formatted output. This module can perform an nmap scan and parse the output automagically using parsescan(). It can parse an nmap XML file. This module was developed to speed up network security tool development when using nmap.
