RANCID (Really Awesome New Cisco confIg Differ) collects a router's (or device's) configuration, including software and hardware (cards, serial numbers, etc.), and uses CVS to display differences from a previous collection. It supports Cisco routers, Juniper routers, Catalyst switches, Foundry switches, Redback NASs, and ADC EZT3 muxes. The Beta version currently includes support for Bay Networks (nortel) routers and Extreme switches. Rancid also includes a lookingglass and the device login scripts may be used to automate a number of tasks.
screen-scraper is a tool for extracting data from Web sites. It works much like a database that provides access to the information of the Web. It provides a graphical interface allowing you to designate URLs, data elements to be extracted, and scripting logic to traverse pages and work with scraped data. Once these items have been created, screen-scraper can be invoked from external languages such as .NET, Java, PHP, and Active Server Pages. It can be scheduled to scrape information at periodic intervals, and can automatically write extracted data to CSV files.
Telconi Terminal is an unique network management application with interactive full-screen configuration editing, browsing, help facility support, debugging, and more. It focuses on common Cisco IOS functionality present with any hardware or software configuration, and complements the command line interface with a rich set of features. It is intended for users with knowledge of Cisco IOS, and is designed to work with any IOS-based device, such as routers and switches.
Nets is a flexible and extensible network inventory and asset management system that works on all Unix and Windows platforms, and works with most SQL databases. Its complete GUI allows you to maintain details of your entire network, from network links down to interfaces and routers. NetSQUID is a Perl script (daemon) that sits in between Snort and IPTables. It gathers alerts generated by Snort, then automatically creates an IPTables firewall entry to block the alerting host (such as those infected by viruses). Web traffic is redirected to a Web server that can alert the user to the infection. The host is automatically unblocked after a specified time. It can also send DHCP address requests, so rogue DHCP servers can be detected by Snort.
The AirWave Management Platform (AMP) is server software which provides a Web-based UI that gives you a single point of intelligent control for remotely monitoring and configuring multi-vendor wireless access points and other network devices. The AMP software offers device discovery, centralized policy definition, automated configuration management, firmware management, real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and reporting. AMP supports hardware from leading enterprise-grade vendors.
The XE Toolkit is a multi-platform, network-aware, secure performance monitoring solution for tactical analysis of enterprise computing systems. It uses Java and provides an API in the form of Java jar files that contain the programmatic interfaces needed to craft custom tools. It remains a toolkit, perhaps more complex than the SE Toolkit, but also far more versatile.
IPAcco is a software package that helps a network admin to collect, visualize, and analyze IP accounting data from the Cisco routers. It downloads IP accounting data from the router, stores it in the MySQL database, provides Web access to the collected data, presenting it in a convenient graphical form, and allows the user to specify various criteria for data selection.
