The NCAR Command Language (NCL) is a programming language designed specifically for the access, analysis, and visualization of data. It can be run in interactive or batch mode, and includes features common to modern languages, including types, variables, operators, expressions, conditional statements, loops, and functions and procedures, and also functions to handle the manipulation of metadata, the configuration of output graphics, the importing of data from a variety of formats, and an algebra that supports array operations. Many useful functions and procedures for processing and manipulating data are included.
Antipodes.Cubes is a BPM system for visual modeling and automation of processes. Processes are designed visually as block diagrams in a graphical environment called WfArchitect. The logic and flow of the processes are reflected in the different containers (blocks or shapes) and the connections between them. It supports task, condition, user decision, code, timer, and scheduler containersm and allows for the inclusion of subprocesses in processes and also recursive use of subprocesses.
VULCAN (Viscous Upwind aLgorithm for Complex flow ANalysis) offers computational fluid dynamics for subsonic speed through hypersonic turbulent reacting and non-reacting flows on a variety of serial and parallel computational platforms. The computational cost of propulsion flow analysis is reduced through the use of special turbulent wall treatments, multi-grid methods for elliptic and space marching schemes, and conditioning of the governing equations to reduce numerical stiffness. Physical modeling capabilities are improved through the inclusion of models for compressibility, Reynolds stress anisotropies, turbulent diffusivity, finite rate chemistry, and turbulence/chemistry interaction effects. VULCAN can simulate two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or axi-symmetric multi-block problems.
Zoom Image is a magnification viewer for JPG and GIF images which zooms in and out with a 20:1 zoom factor. The left mouse button zooms in, and the right mouse button zooms out. Mouse pointing controls the direction of exploration within the image. It can be used to display quality high-resolution JPG and GIF images.
IDL2Matlab is a program for automatically translating a program from IDL into Matlab and Scilab. IDL and Matlab are two major numerical languages for scientists. Scilab is a free Matlab-like language. Many IDL programs have been developed in large facilities studying astrophysics, geology, medicine, and particle and nuclear physics. On the other hand, Matlab is widely used in smaller laboratories, such as universities and national scientific agencies. This program is designed to extend the portability of such IDL programs.
Tsprof and pmprof measure the running of an existing binary executable program on Linux/x86. They report counts of entries and events using process-virtual hardware counters of clock cycles and CPU events. The output includes text, graphics, and colorful interactive graphics. Tsprof and pmprof can be used with a wide range of programs, including shared libraries, dynamic modules, pthreads, and SMP.
Ch is an embeddable C/C++ interpreter for cross-platform scripting, shell programming, 2D/3D plotting, numerical computing, and embedded scripting. It is the simplest solution to numerical computing and visualization in the domain of C/C++. It supports the ISO 1990 C Standard (C90), major features in C99 (complex numbers, variable length arrays or VLAs, type generic functions, long long data type, etc), classes in C++, and extensions to the C language like nested functions, string types, etc. It can be embedded in other applications and hardware and used as a scripting language. C/C++ code is interpreted directly with no compilation to intermediate code. It supports Linux, Windows, MacOS X, Solaris, HP-UX, and FreeBSD.
DISLIN is a high-level, easy-to-use plotting library for displaying data as curves, bar graphs, pie charts, 3D-colour plots, surfaces, contours, and maps. Several output formats are supported, such as X11, VGA, PostScript, PDF, CGM, HPGL, TIFF, and PNG. Plotting extensions for the interpreter-based languages Perl, Python, and Java are also supported for most operating systems.
WorldStation is a Java-based control panel to control the Ten-Tec DSP RX-320 shortwave receiver. The RX-320 is a "black box" radio which has no front-panel and is controlled via your PC's serial port. With an appropriate antenna, the RX-320 will allow you to listen to thousands of broadcasts from around the world. WorldStation features integrated Xbase frequency database support and advanced scanning to allow the user to visualize the radio spectrum.
