halttimer waits for LIRC events or SIGUSR1 and sets a timer which will initiate the shutdown sequence (via "sudo halt" by default) when the time is up. The timer's timeout decreases with each keypress by a specified amount of time. Visualization is done using an on-screen-display (OSD).
XOSDVolume is a graphical sound volume level indicator. It monitors the audio mixer device, and whenever there is a change, it displays the current volume level on an OSD-type window for a short time. It supports real transparency by using the X Shape extension, without the need of an X compositing manager.
