mediadbs is a database system built around MySQL, with the ultimate aim being the categorization of diverse electronic media, with tools to extract the data from the files, and to make the data available in many ways. Currently this is limited to mp3 id3 tags, and a Web-based output.
rpl is a Unix text replacement utility. It will replace strings with new strings in multiple text files. It can scan directories recursively and replace strings in all files found. The search can be limited to files with certain filename suffixes (e.g. '.html', '.c', etc.). It includes source, a build script, and a man page. It should work on most flavors of Unix. Linux/Intel, Linux/PPC, and source RPMs are available, as are binaries for other OSes, including Mac OS X.
f2w helpdesk is a Web-based helpdesk package. It allows requests to be categorised to an arbitrary level of detail using a expert-system-like question and answer method. Advice and problem-specific information can be associated with the request categories, thus building up a knowledge base to speed the resolution of frequently occurring problems. Users can also add their own tasks, thus using it as a todo list or for workflow within teams, and notes can be added to each request at any time.
Checkservice is a Perl script that monitors services on remote hosts. It uses plugins to provide a more thorough check than just a socket check, and can be configured to check multiple services on multiple hosts using two different methods (simple and extended). It is able to write logs and when running in the background enables warnings. It features a beep-, mail-, and SMS-warning system.
