RISO is an implementation of heterogeneous, distributed belief networks in Java. A belief network is a probability model defined on an acyclic directed graph; distributed means nodes can be on different hosts, and heterogeneous means allowing different conditional distributions. The calculations involved are multidimensional integrations; exact results are known for a catalog of special cases. If a partial result cannot be calculated as a special case from the catalog, RISO computes an approximate result by numerical integration. Partial results are passed from one node in the graph to another as messages; if nodes live on different hosts, the belief network is said to be distributed. Messages are passed via RMI. Many example belief networks and lengthy documents are included in the RISO release bundle.
PostArmor (formerly MailArmor) helps to keep your electronic mailbox free of spam: it looks at the relevant parts of your email before it leaves the mail server, and lets the legitimate messages pass through undisturbed, while leaving suspect messages on the server to be reexamined later or just deleted after a while. It works as a POP3 email proxy, with support for POP, APOP, and IMAP servers. It supports SpamCop reports and blacklist, and the ORDB and OSIRUSOFT blacklists.
Dyn2stat (dynamic to static) is a Web application that keeps your IP in a central database. Dyn2stat allows you to update your IP automatically and access it through your Web browser. You can also add shares (links to servers, folders, and files on your computer) and access them with a simple hyperlink.
Jeremi is groupware software for realtime document sharing. It supports distributed work on different documents or files by different people or project groups. It offers an always-up-to-date view of the project and its files and coordinates the dependency of the actual file status and access to those files. Jeremi is written entirely in Java.
WebSuck goes through a Web page, following links and making a list of the datafiles encountered along the way. It is useful for such tasks as downloading large image galleries without clicking all the links yourself. It can output a file list in a format appropriate for wget, and another for GetRight. It can be used either via a Swing GUI or in console mode.
