AutoLaTeX is a tool for managing small to large sized LaTeX projects. The typical AutoLaTeX input file is simply a series of variable definitions in a Makefile for the project. This Makefile was automatically generated by a provided Perl script. The user can easily perform all required steps to do such tasks as preview the document or produce a PDF file. AutoLaTeX will keep track of files that have changed and how to run the various programs that are needed to produce the output. One of the best features of AutoLaTeX is to provide translation rules to automatically generate the figures which will be included into the PDF.

Axualize is a tool for creating applications by actualizing Java objects using XML. Axualize is based on JSR-57, and is intended to allow developers to create Java applications dynamically using XML. To understand how this could be useful, imagine a J2EE application with multiple client UIs being generated from Web applications. Using Axualize, you can present multiple form-based GUI front ends to your application by dropping in a Web application which builds your GUI applications using Axualize XML generated with JSP and whatever application framework you please.

While the author of BSAX-J has not yet come to a final conclusion about the need for a binary XML format, BSAX is his idea of one possible encoding that leverages other XML prior art (SAX events and UTF-8, in particular). It is complete in that it can be used to perform round-trip conversions from textual XML to SAX events to BSAX binary streams, and back to SAX events and textual XML. The test code in the distribution does exactly that for a simple example XML file, and measures the difference in file size (the file is slightly smaller for the BSAX encoding of the sample file) and the difference in read time (the read time is significantly faster for the sample file).

BabelKit is an interface to a universal multilingual database code table. It takes all of the programming work out of maintaining multiple database code definition sets in multiple languages. The code administration and translation page lets developers define new virtual code tables, new languages, enter all codes and their descriptions, and then translate them into all languages of interest. Perl and PHP classes retrieve the code descriptions and automatically generate HTML code selection elements in the user's language. This makes internationalization and localization of Web sites and database interfaces much easier.
