Avalon is Apache's Java Server Framework project. It is separated into six subprojects: Framework, Excalibur, LogKit, Cornerstone, Phoenix, and Apps. Its purpose is to simplify server side programming for Java-based projects. It formalizes several best practices and patterns for server side programming. Framework describes the interfaces and contracts for the component-based architecture. Excalibur provides a number of useful components and utilities. LogKit is a logging implementation. Cornerstone is a group of reusable server components and services. Phoenix is an enterprise container implementation that uses all of the other subprojects to automatically deploy and manage one or more componentized servers. Apps is a home for several Phoenix-compatible server applications and reusable components (like FtpServer).
This data structure features fast (O(log N)) insertion, removal, and retrieval of records, provided that there is a sorting relation over their keys and there are no entries with equal keys. The AVL tree is an explicit binary searching tree, where left children of each vertex are less or equal, while right children are greater or equal than the vertex itself. In addition, the tree is balanced so that the difference between the depths of the two subtrees of each vertex is at most one.
AVLMAP is a key:data pair data mapping (associative array) library for C programming based on AVL balanced binary trees. Added features include ordered data retrieval forward or reverse, support for optional duplicate keys (e.g. an extra linked list not needed), and the ability to find the nearest member if an exact match isn't available. Both key and data types may be selected from a choice of C data types including string and array variations. One mapping always has one key type, but data types may be mixed within a mapping.
Babelj is a language server for Java. It allows programs written in practically any language to fully interact with Java. Client libraries currently exist for PHP3 and Java. Babelj can be used as an out of the box bridge between PHP and Java and adding support for new languages is a snap as well.
Babylon Java Chat is a client and server combo that allows groups to chat and draw over any TCP/IP connection. The client can be run either as a standalone Java application or as an applet launched from a WWW document. It features public and private chatting and drawing, email, file transfers, chat rooms, instant and answering-machine style messaging, and console paging. The drawing canvas enables users to draw freehand, or to create lines, rectangles, ovals, or fonted text, or to paste images from files.
beancounter enables stockmarket data analysis and performance evaluation. It has two main modes. The first is data gathering - both current data (e.g. closing prices, high, low, volume etc.) and historical price data can be retrieved efficiently using multiple securities per requests, and stored in an SQL database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite are supported) via easy command line operations. The second mode is data analysis, based on the previously stored data. This comprises various performance reports, as well as a Value-at-Risk analysis. beancounter is implemented as a Perl module, and a Perl command-line frontend to the module. It supports different stock markets from around the globe, foreign exchange rates, US mutual funds, and US options.
Bibcursed is a simple curses-based editor for BibTeX bibliography files, especially useful for those who have to maintain a large number of references for a major piece of documentation, like a PhD thesis. It performs everyday functions such as adding, removing and viewing reference entries. Intelligent prompting for fields is used when adding entries so that authors do not have to rely on memory for knowing which fields can and cannot be used for different entry types.
BioJava aims to provide a comprehensive set of Java components for the rapid development of applications in Bioinformatics. It contains interfaces for representing Sequences, Features, and other important bioinformatics concepts. It can also read and write sequence data in a variety of common formats and communicate with Ensembl databases and with DAS and BioCorba servers.
