AFT (Almost Free Text) is a document preparation system. It is mostly free form, meaning that there is little intrusive markup; AFT source documents look a lot like plain old ASCII text. It has a few rules for structuring your document, more to do with formatting your text than embedding lots of commands, and it produces all types of output (HTML, XHTML, LaTeX, roll-your-own XML, etc.). All that needs to be done is to edit a rule file. You can even customize your own rule files for specialized output.
bkmrkconv will convert Netscape's bookmarks.html file into a series of interconnected HTML pages which can be put online. The pages are heavily customizable and examples are included for a Yahoo-like portal. The program is useful for accessing your bookmarks from a remote machine or even just for making your links look prettier.

Diogenes is a tool for searching and browsing the Latin and ancient Greek texts published on CD-ROM by the Packard Humanities Institute and the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae. It comes as an easy-to-install stand-alone application for GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows, based on the Firefox browser (i.e. Xulrunner). Alternatively, it can be installed by a network administrator as a server on a local network, and users then access it via an ordinary Web browser. There is also a command-line tool which can optionally format output as LaTeX instead of HTML.
DSML is the Directory Services Markup Language, an XML dialect for working with directory information. The DSML Tools provide for the querying of any LDAP directory (with search results output as DSML), the importing of DSML data into any LDAP directory, the directory-context validation of DSML (checking for illegal attributes in the entries, etc.), and the calculation of the differences (for a directory) between two DSML documents to provide an XML Diff algorithm for DSML data. This software makes all LDAP-supporting directories DSML-enabled. It can also check the integrity of DSML data, and show at a glance how two data sets, represented as DSML, differ.

flex.rb is a regexp matching and scanning library for the Ruby language. It is more than 3 times faster than Ruby regexps, and supports matching text arriving in multiple parts (via async, non-blocking I/O). flex.rb embeds the GNU Flex 2.5.4 (fast lexical analyzer generator) as an engine, and all of Flex's functionality is accessible from Ruby scripts.
