Grok is a library of Java components for performing various natural language tasks. These include several preprocessing tasks, chart parsing, a large categorial grammar for English (induced from the Penn treebank), and some knowledge representation components (basic coreference, salience tracking, etc.). The library also has a companion kit which provides a GUI interface to the components, several of which are implementations of interfaces in the Quipu OpenNLP API.
Linguaphile is a simple command line language translator. It is open source, platform independent, and programmed in Perl. Linguaphile currently supports the following languages: Afrikaans, Alawa, Albanian, Arrernte, Basque, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Estonian, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hawaiian, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Interlingua, Irish, Italian, Kala Lagaw Ya, Korean, Kriol, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Maori, Norwegian, Pitjantjatjara, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Samoan, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Tok Pisin, Turkish, Ukrainian, Warlpiri, and Welsh. The Spanish to English translation is the most useful at this stage.
Lindenmayer Systems in Python provides a simple implementation of Lindenmayer systems (also called "L-systems" or "substitution systems"). In basic form, a Lindenmayer system consists of a starting string of symbols from an alphabet which has repeated transitions applied to it, specified by a list of transition search-and-replace rules. In addition to the standard formulation, two alternative implementations are included: sequential systems (in which at most one rule is applied) and tag systems (in which the transition only takes place at the beginning and end of the string). Despite being implemented entirely in Python, for reasonable rules on a modern machine, the system is capable of running thousands of generations per second. Lindenmayer systems are found in artificial intelligence and artificial life and can be used to generate fractal patterns (usually via mapping symbols from the alphabet to turtle commands), organic-looking patterns that can simulate plants or other living things, or even music.
Ellogon is a multi-lingual, cross-platform, general-purpose language engineering environment, developed in order to aid both researchers who are doing research in computational linguistics, as well as companies who produce and deliver language engineering systems. As a language engineering platform, it offers an extensive set of facilities, including tools for processing and visualising textual/HTML/XML data and associated linguistic information, support for lexical resources (like creating and embedding lexicons), tools for creating annotated corpora, accessing databases, comparing annotated data, or transforming linguistic information into vectors for use with various machine learning algorithms.
The purpose of Mind AI is to build an artificial mind based on some advanced concepts: machine learning, representation and meta representation of concepts, concept reflection, reification (concept to meta concept), and denotation (meta concept to concept), and to explore some new concepts. Interaction with the AI is done via IRC.
