MathGL is a library for making high-quality scientific graphics under Linux and Windows, fast data plotting and handling of large data arrays, working in window and console modes, and easily embedding into other programs. It has more than 40 general types of graphics for 1d, 2d, and 3d data arrays. It can export graphics to raster and vector (EPS or SVG) formats. It has an OpenGL interface and can be used from console programs. It has functions for data handling and MGL language scripting for simplification of data plotting. It has several types of transparency and smoothed lightning, vector fonts and TeX-like formula drawing, an arbitrary curvilinear coordinate system, and many other useful things.
Ptplot is a set of Java classes that can be used as an applet or an application for graphing datasets. It reads PlotML, binary, or ASCII data, is autoranging, and automatically or manually labels axes and tick marks. It can plot live, animated plots and provides zooming. It also includes Bourne shell scripts and DOS .bat files that can be used as a replacement for xgraph, the X11 graphing tool.
DEVS has been developed for over a year to serve as an experimental framework for natural systems modeling techniques. It enables discrete event, general purpose, object oriented, component based, GIS connected, and collaborative visual simulation model development and execution. The sample model implementation shows that this experimental environment can be used for solving any complex problems solvable by discrete-event simulation, but it is especially suited for natural system simulation. Currently only hierarchical block and cellular models are modeled and simulated, but a multi-layered modeling paradigm for spatially distributed systems (with vector and cellular models) will eventually be implemented in the environment.
JOGL is a reference implementation of the Java bindings for the OpenGL API, which is designed to provide hardware-supported 3D graphics. It provides full access to the APIs in the OpenGL 1.4 specification as well as nearly all vendor extensions, and integrates with the AWT and Swing widget sets.
