MUSCLE (Multi User Server Client Linking Environment) is an N-way messaging server and networking API. It includes client-side networking APIs for various languages, including C, C++, C#, Delphi, Java, and Python. MUSCLE lets programs communicate over a network via streams of serialized Message objects. The included server program ("muscled") lets its clients message each other and store information in its server-side hierarchical database. The database supports flexible queries via hierarchical wildcarding, and "live" updates via a subscription mechanism.
LibRaw is a library for reading RAW files obtained from digital photo cameras (CRW/CR2, NEF, RAF, DNG, and others). LibRaw is based on the source codes of the dcraw utility, though some of the drawbacks of dcraw have been eliminated. The users of the library are provided with an API to be used when writing their software programs.
Blender is a free 3D animation studio. It includes tools for modeling, sculpting, texturing (painting, node-based shader materials, or UV mapped), UV mapping, rigging and constraints, weight painting, particle systems, simulation (fluids, physics, and soft body dynamics and an external crowd simulator), rendering, node-based compositing, and non linear video editing, as well as an integrated game engine for real-time interactive 3D, and game creation and playback with cross-platform compatibility.
The Freeverb3 library includes high quality freeverb, nreverb, impulse response reverb, FIR filter constructor, band splitter, and hardknee/softknee compressor. Its oversampling feature provides high quality audio processing. The compressor provides mastering quality audio processing. This library includes XMMS plugins, audacious plugins, BMP beep media player plugins, and sample programs, which enable you to test the audio effects easily. DataReel is a free, cross-platform database and communications toolkit. It can be used to rapidly develop and deploy multi-threaded database and communications applications. The DataReel toolkit is composed of a modular C++ library designed to build cross-platform infrastructures for end-user applications, embedded systems, and reusable libraries. DataReel's unique modular design simplifies adaptation, allowing you to determine the level of complexity. DataReel makes Internet connectivity and database programming easy.
TuxKart is a 3D GoKart racing game with several famous OpenSource mascots participating. The game uses PLIB and OpenGL, and is portable to a wide range of OS's. There are several racecourses provided, with full information on how to add your own. Except for a few minor details, this game is essentially complete, and very playable.
Grlib is an implementation of generative grammars and turtle graphics. The grammars (Lindenmayer systems) are used to produce descriptions of three dimensional objects, and the turtle is used to display them (i.e., generate images in several forms, such as bitmap, PostScript, or OpenGL).
Ren'ai/Dating Simulation Engine is derived from a type of computer game from Japan. The player controls a point of view (POV) game character, who interacts with other game characters in the hopes of winning the love of one of them. So far all of these games are closed source, and none have been translated into English. The Ren'ai includes a cross platform, internationalized game engine, on which dating sim type games can be played, plus an English based game to play on that engine.
