eXist is a native XML database featuring efficient, index-based XQuery processing. It provides a complete ecosystem for building applications entirely based on XML, XQuery, and related standards. metaf2xml can download, parse, and decode aviation routine weather reports (METAR, SPECI, SAO), aerodrome forecasts (TAF), synoptic observations (SYNOP), and BUOY observations, and store the data as XML. XSLT style sheets convert it to plain language, as HTML or text. Current weather data from NOAA and other sources can be fetched and displayed.

XINS is a technology used to define, create, and invoke remote APIs. XINS is specification-oriented. When API specifications are written (in XML), XINS will transform them to HTML-based documentation and Java code for both the client-side and the server-side. The communication is based on HTTP. XINS competes with the complex SOAP technology. Main design goals include simplicity, scalability, and testability. XINS is not only a specification technology, but also an application development framework. It offers transaction logging, unique log documentation, and active code generation.
Soundboard is a sound cueing program designed for theatrical use. It aims to be simple to use and maintain cross platform compatibility so that a sound designer who uses a Mac can build a show and have it play back on the theatre's Windows-based playback computer. Soundboard provides a cross platform and open source alternative to programs such as QLab and SFX. It is designed to be simple enough for high school students and community theatres to use, and yet robust enough to be a viable application at a regional theatre.
doclifter helps with lifting documents with nroff markup to XML-DocBook. Lifting documents from presentation level to semantic level is hard, and a really good job requires human polishing. This tool aims to do everything that can be mechanized, and to preserve any troff-level information that might have structural implications in XML comments. TBL tables are translated into DocBook table markup, PIC into SVG, and EQN into MathML (relying on pic2svg and GNU eqn for the last two).

DDMSence (pronounced "dee-dee-em-Essence") is the only Java library that fully supports the DoD Discovery Metadata Specification (DDMS). Xerces2 is the next generation Apache Xerces-J XML parser. This version of Xerces-J defines the Xerces Native Interface (XNI), and provides a complete, standards compliant reference implementation using XNI. The parser was completely re-designed and re-implemented to be simpler and more modular.
