NASM is an 80x86 assembler designed for portability and modularity. It supports a range of object file formats including Linux a.out and ELF, COFF, Microsoft 16-bit OBJ, Win32/64, and Apple Mach-O. It will also output plain binary files. Its syntax is designed to be simple and easy to understand, similar to Intel's but less complex. It supports all currently known opcodes, and has advanced macro capability. It includes a disassembler as well.
EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC 25436, and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes: Eiffel compiler, Eiffel editor, Eiffel code browsing tool, Eiffel testing tool, graphical design tool, refactoring tool, debugger, profiler, and Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics, Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel applies O-O principles and Design by Contract for high-quality software. Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing (including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.
SMC takes a state machine stored in an .sm file and generates the state pattern classes in fourteen programming languages. Its features include default transitions, transition arguments, transition guards, push/pop transitions, and Entry/Exit actions. It requires Java SE 1.6 or better.
TCC (Tiny C Compiler) is small, fast, unlimited, and safe. You can compile and execute C code everywhere (e.g., on rescue disks). It generates optimized x86 code, and can compile, assemble, and link several times faster than 'gcc -O0'. Any C dynamic library can be used directly. It includes an optional memory and bounds checker, and bounds-checked code can be mixed freely with standard code. C script is also supported--just add '#!/usr/bin/tcc' at the first line of your C source, and execute it directly from the command line.
GNU Lightning is a library that generates assembly language code at run time. It is very fast, making it ideal for Just-In-Time compilers, and it abstracts over the target CPU, as it exposes to the clients a standardized RISC instruction set (inspired by the MIPS and SPARC chips).
SuperWaba is a VM for PDAs. Because of the way it was written, you can use Java to develop programs for it. It supports exceptions, threads, many user interface controls, double and long 64-bit types, grayscale, color, 3D controls, and JNI and Java libraries, among other features. The project has been superseded and replaced with TotalCross.
The Portable Forth Environment implements the ANSI Standard of the Forth programming language. It is fully written in C, and with gcc the virtual machine can be put into cpu registers. The newer development versions implement a set of modern features including modularization and multithreading. The terminal connection itself can be configured to work in an embedded environment.
The GCC XML Tree Node Introspector project consists of a patch to the gcc compiler to output the internal compiler tree nodes in RDF/XML and programs to process that RDF/XML. The tree nodes are complex data structures which represent the source code inside the compiler. Through these tree nodes, users are able to extract information from their programs that would be otherwise very difficult to obtain. Modules exist to store these nodes in Redland RDF using a Berkley database. The long-term goal of the project is create a high-level API that will make the programmatic manipulation of programs easier than it is now.
