Selador is a browser-based fantasy game. The game was commercial at first, but has since been released as open source by its developers. The game focuses on teamplay and communication between players. Although it is played in real-time, strategy and planning are paramount. It comes with a nice set of graphics and a pre-populated database. It can be installed on any *AMP stack.
queXC is a Web-based data cleaning and coding/classification system that takes a data file (such as data collected from a questionnaire) and cleans the text input fields by spacing them and spell checking them. It allows operators to code text fields to existing coding schemes, or to create a coding scheme on the fly. Multiple operators can code and clean simultaneously, with the ability to assign operators to do particular codes. The queXC system includes some coding schemes created from ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics) data. It can be used as an open source replacement for Nvivo in some situations.
PyMultimethods is a library that enables users to create multimethods (a.k.a. generic functions) in Python. In other words, you can create multiple versions of the same function/method. The one that is invoked depends on the runtime parameters. This is similar to polymorphism in the sense that the object type determines which version of the function is invoked. Multimethods go beyond the polymorphism found in conventional object oriented languages, however, because all parameters are taken into account (as opposed to only the "implied this", as in C++ or Java). PyMultimethods can also be used to "overload" a function or method.
poker-network includes a poker server, a client library, an abstract user interface library, and a client based on it. The server deals the cards and checks the user actions using a poker game engine (poker-engine). It listens on a TCP/IP port and understands its own specific protocol. The persistent information is stored in a MySQL database. The client library implements the poker-network protocol for the client. The abstract user interface library provides a framework based on the client library and suited to implement a user friendly client.
RapidMiner (formerly YALE) is a flexible Java environment for knowledge discovery in databases, machine learning, and data mining. Many nestable learning and preprocessing operators (including Weka) are provided. It features an XML-based graphical user interface, a plugin mechanism, and high-dimensional plotting, and provides an easy-to-use extension mechanism that makes it possible to integrate new operators and adapt the system to your personal requirements. A command line version is also included.
