pmcyg is a tool for creating customized collections of Cygwin packages together with the Cygwin installer. This enables self-contained distributions to be created without having to mirror the entire set of Cygwin packages. For example, it can create a single CD-ROM or DVD from which a personalized version of Cygwin can be installed on machines not connected to the Web. A basic installer can be created in less than 25MB; a full set of Cygwin packages might fill a DVD-ROM; or a selection of packages can be constructed to suit your chosen installation medium. pmcyg will then download these and all their dependencies automatically. pmcyg can be used either as a command-line script or via a simple graphical interface.
System and Process Monitor in Java provides a JNI (Java Native Interface) implementation for monitoring global system resources and processes (outside JVM) via a unified (cross-platform) interface. The Java interface and all native libraries are compiled into a single JAR and are loaded transparently on any architecture upon request. It should be easy to embedd this code into your Java applications, either as a separate JAR or as one single application archive.
Tioga is a Ruby library for creating figures and plots with high quality text and graphics in PDF format. Text is processed directly by TeX (not an emulation), and the graphics covers a broad range of PDF features including images, curves, clipping, and transparency. Tioga is relatively easy to use, complete, and well documented.
METSlib is an object-oriented metaheuristics framework in C++ designed to make implementing or adapting models easy. The model is modular: all the implemented search algorithms can be applied to the same model. METSlib implements the basics of some metaheuristics algorithms, such as Random Restart Local Search, Variable Neighborhood Search, Iterated Local Search, Simulated Annealing, and Tabu Search. For each algorithm, you must implement an objective function, a neighborhood (move manager), and some moves. Tabu Search is one of the fastest ways to generate near-optimal solutions to a wide range of hard combinatorial optimization problems.
A reasonable way to achieve a long term backup of OpenPGP (GnuPG, PGP, etc) keys is to print them out on paper. Due to metadata and redundancy, OpenPGP secret keys are significantly larger than just the "secret bits". In fact, the secret key contains a complete copy of the public key. Since the public key generally doesn't need to be backed up in this way (most people have many copies of it on various keyservers, Web pages, etc), only extracting the secret parts can be a real advantage. Paperkey extracts just those secret bytes and prints them. To reconstruct, you re-enter those bytes (whether by hand or via OCR), and paperkey can use them to transform your existing public key into a secret key.
Autodl2 is a simple to manage and extensible file transfer system that can be configured simply using a configuration file. The system is designed to be lightweight and handle multiple file transfer protocols. Currently only SFTP is supported, though other systems can be added via a plugin system.
