The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is composed of several parts. The first is a fully modularized sound driver which supports module autoloading, devfs, isapnp autoconfiguration, and gives complete access to analog audio, digital audio, control, mixer, synthesizer, DSP, MIDI, and timer components of audio hardware. It also includes a fully-featured kernel-level sequencer, a full compatibility layer for OSS/Free applications, an object-oriented C library which covers and enhances the ALSA kernel driver functionality for applications (client/server, plugins, PCM sharing/multiplexing, PCM metering, etc.), an interactive configuration program for the driver, and some simple utilities for basic management.
COSA and SRP are synchronous serial boards for ISA bus which have two channels. Each channel can be set up to one of the X.21, V.24, V.35 and V.36 hardware interfaces. The Linux kernel driver and user-space tools serve for setting up and using the COSA and SRP boards under Linux. It allows you to use it with the following link-level protocols: Cisco HDLC , synchronous PPP, or as the frame-based character device.
DMAring demonstrates a novel generic network interface card driver architecture which works in hybrid interrupt-polling mode to deliver superior real-time performance on Linux, Red Hat Linux, or Linux-RTAI-LXRT (a real-time co-kernel for Linux with user level extension). Existing Linux drivers saturate the CPU at a much lower packet rate than the maximum possible wire line packet rate, but this driver allows vanilla network cards to be used for high speed packet capturing.
The Dazuko project provides a virtual device driver allowing (userland) applications to execute online file access control. It was originally developed by Avira GmbH (formerly known as H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH) to allow on-access virus scanning. Other uses include a file-access monitor/logger or external security tools. Dazuko operates by intercepting file access calls and passing the file information to a userland application. The application then has the opportunity to tell the virtual device driver to allow or deny the file access. The application also receives information about the file access event, such as accessed file name, type of access, process id, and user id.
Enforcer is a Linux security module designed to help improve integrity of a computer running Linux. The Enforcer provides a subset of Tripwire-like functionality. It runs continuously and as each protected file is opened its SHA1 is calculated and compared to a previously stored value. The Enforcer is designed to integrate with TCPA hardware to provide a secure boot when booted with a TCPA enabled boot loader. TCPA hardware can protect secrets and other sensitive data (for example, the secrets for an encrypted loopback file system) and bind those secrets to specific software.
F-Watch is a kernel module that reports changes on files to /dev/fwatch. It hooks into the sys_calls and does not require a kernel patch. To activate watching for certain events, users need to run ioctl to register the wanted events; examples are in the src dir. Ioctl can be used during runtime to individually change the required events.
Hardened Debian improves Debian GNU/Linux with high security and hardening features, hardened kernels and packages, DHKP, and other security related enhancements. It makes systems more difficult to compromise using common attacks such as race conditions, chroot jail escapes, and buffer overflows.
