dunan is a little program that shows animated Miku Miku Dance 3D models on the desktop. It also supports Miku Miku Dance motion files and has a built-in settings menu and mouse and keyboard control functions. It can optionally play MP3 or Ogg files. It uses real transparency, and can be used with any window manager. It has very few dependencies, and works fine with compiz.
GPlates offers a novel combination of interactive plate-tectonic reconstructions, geographic information system (GIS) functionality, and raster data visualization. GPlates enables both the visualization and the manipulation of plate-tectonic reconstructions and associated geological, geophysical, and paleo-geographic data through geological time.
typhon is a slim and themeable OpenGL-based frontend, dashboard, and program launcher. It's meant to be easily used on Linux HTPCs, but also works on standard desktops or as netbook launcher. It has picture support for background, icons, stencils, and preview pictures. There's also an optional auto-screenshot mode that creates a preview picture of the launched app after a user-configured time. It also has a built-in OpenGL ffmpeg video player, which can be used to video preview programs and emulators/ROMs or simply to watch some movies. The video and everything else can be rotated into any direction and the position can be saved. Everything can be configured by the user, including colors, whole color themes, font, font size (any TTF font will do), optional sound effects, optional 3d icons (using glut), and background and preview pictures. Already installed screensavers can also be used as backgrounds using compositing and transparency.
Reindeer is a C library for the rendering of virtual scenes, mainly in three dimensions. The library dynamically loads backend modules to do the rendering. Currently there is only a backend for OpenGL, but ideas for future backends are a raytracer and perhaps Direct3D. Any number of rendering contexts can live at the same time. Contexts are tied to a backend, and backends are automatically loaded and unloaded on demand. Resources are defined globally and can be used by any number of contexts at the same time, even in different backends. The main goal is to make it easier for developers to write applications that have many rendering contexts with shared resources and automatic state management. Another advantage is that the user can choose in which way a scene should be rendered without recompiling the application. For example, a scene could be rendered with a rasterizer like OpenGL at one point, and with a raytracer at another. Reindeer can also be used to get portable graphics output. Reindeer is not a scene-graph library or a game engine, but it can be used to implement them. It's still up to the application to create and manage the native contexts that the Reindeer backends can work on. For example, an application would still need to use GLX or equivalent to be able to use the OpenGL backend. The Reindeer project also provides a package called GTK-Reindeer that makes this easier for developers of GTK+ applications.
Brain Party is a fun, family-friendly puzzle game that's made up of 36 mini-games designed to push your brain to its limits by testing memory, logic, mathematics, reaction time, and more. It is split into two modes: test mode gives you five mini-games in a row and adds up your brain weight to see how smart you are, and practice mode lets you play your favorite mini-games as often as you want. If you do well enough, there are six extra mini-games that can be unlocked, as well as a new game mode designed to keep you playing and enjoying your favorite games even longer.
iMorph is cross platform 3D image analysis software. It permits the morphological characterization of porous media, and more precisely cellular materials. The first step of the analysis is a macroscopical characterization of the different phases. It allows porosity, tortuosity, and specific surface measurement. The anisotropy is also quantified at the sample scale. In a second step, the software gives a morphological study at the pore scale. Automatic methods for cell extraction give access to shape analysis, classification, and orientation. Moreover, it permits a local voxel classification in order to identify local shape such as shell, plates, and rods. Finally, the software gives a topological description by generating the graphs of both the solid and fluid phase. The human interface is intuitive and can be used by a non-expert of image processing. 3D visualization uses OpenGL libraries and allows interaction with segmented objects. An XML samples database is used to store results belonging to a region of interest in the media.
AWeather is a real-time weather data viewer designed for weather enthusiasts. AWeather is not a weather widget/dockapp that displays a pre-computed forecast. It is designed to be an easy to use program that integrates a variety of meteorological data in a simple unified interface. Currently, AWeather only displays data provided by the United States National Weather Service.
